Updated Job Description : Derivatives Associate Consultant

The Opportunity:

As an Associate Consultant in the Derivatives Practice, you will have broad, in-depth knowledge of the business, be technically competent to act as a first point of reference for day-to-day queries and serve as a liaison to related areas. You will carry out relatively complex, extensive, high-profile activities and direct interaction with clients, partners and senior management. You will demonstrate excellent analytical, consultative, communication and judgment skills. You may manage a function, lead projects and/or train lower-level staff. In this role, you will operate until general supervision, but independently most of the time.

The Impact:

  • Provides dedicated, specialized reconciliation break identification and resolution activity
  • Be a single point of contact to understand operational health and support for client
  • Performs timely exception resolution and narration on open break items
  • Consistently works to reduce break resolution turnaround time
  • Identifies recurring items and themes and works to mitigate issues and implement preventative measures
  • Works effectively both as a team member and an independent, self-motivated individual
  • Serves as a Subject Matter Expert and mentors junior level employees
  • Identifies opportunities for improvement within existing technology applications and acts as a liaison with Partner areas to drive resolution
  • Focuses on maintenance and implementation of policies and procedures in the function, building towards becoming an area expert
  • Independently builds relationships with internal and client contacts
  • Acts as escalation point of contact for client issues or inquiries
  • Understands current Service Level Agreements (SLAs) that are directly related to job function(s)



The Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Proven ability to prioritize and multi-task
  • Analytical with excellent problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of financial services, asset management and/or investment operations
  • Detail oriented
  • Works with a sense of urgency
  • Functional / Industry Knowledge is required



The Ideal Qualifications:

  • Associate or bachelor's degree
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience
  • Previous Financial Industry Operations, Asset Management and/or Investment Operations experience
  • Proven ability to build strong relationships with partners on site/ across business lines/ juniors and seniors
  • A proactive approach to problem solving, taking ownership of issues and having the determination to follow through. Escalate issues as appropriate
  • General knowledge of Derivatives
  • Exposure to business process and/or technology enhancement initiatives
  • Competencies in one or more of the following is preferred: Bloomberg, GMI, , Summit,...
