Provide pricing and financial analysis support and guidance as required for various customer requests (e.g. tenders, request for quotes, etc.), with respect to locomotives, component sets, repowers, and maintenance contracts.

Pricing Analyst – Locomotives and Component Sets

Key Job Elements:

- Utilize appropriate competitive data along with value based pricing tools and techniques to help develop pricing proposals that balance the company’s profitability and probability of winning objectives;

- Utilize SAP or LN for pricing all sales orders to ensure that all contractual obligations related to pricing are met;

- Work closely with Inquiry and Accounting teams to provide detailed summaries of pre and post-delivery prices and cost realization;

- Actively participate on a team supporting original equipment quotations and inquiries both domestically and internationally. In addition provide active pricing support to teams responsible for making bids on custom kits and repowers;

- Work with Sales, Inquiry, Customer Service, Operations, and System Engineering to determine non-factory items to include in the proposal. Identify both a potential selling price as well as the likely cost associated with the activity;

- Maintain SAP pricing condition records for sales orders ensuring all contractual obligations are set appropriately in SAP;

- Support complex pricing analysis for multi-year OE platform and service bids;

- Work cross-functionally where necessary with Sales, Marketing, Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain and Finance to ensure that pricing provided in support of bid opportunities and bid approvals accurately reflects the appropriate scope to meet the business requirements of our customers;

- Review and incorporate appropriate competitive data into new pricing requests to enhance the effectiveness of our pricing;

- Responsible for working with Sales on determining the right options within components and applying competitive market knowledge based pricing recommendations to these component sets;

- Develop future price adjustment language and example calculations for new contracts and model future impact of price adjustments to ensure sustained profitability on long-term agreements – provide recommendations where appropriate;

- Ensure bid economics are kept current through regular communications with other departments;

- Manage international bids, tenders, and proposals from start to finish. Coordinate individual responses from various departments and obtaining approvals where necessary.

Qualifications and Experience:

Required:

- Five or more years work experience;

- Working knowledge of SAP and or LN is a plus;

- Solid business acumen – commercial understanding of customers buying behaviors and necessary sales efforts for large capital equipment purchases;

- Strong competency in pricing strategy, analytics, principles, and techniques;

- Experience with / and the ability to incorporate various regional competitive differences into pricing proposals;

- Advanced use of financial modeling / analysis tools (P&L, ROI, EBITDA, Value Pricing); Knowledge of PowerBI is a plus;

- Demonstrates a high degree of inquisitiveness and critical thinking skills to solve complex problems;

- Self starter;

- Strong communication skills that transcend regional boundaries and cross-functional teams;

- Ability to motivate peers to successfully support information / work requests on your behalf in support of pricing proposals;

- Ability to work in a team environment and interact with employees at all levels of the company;

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office with an emphasis on Microsoft Excel demonstrating proficiency in the use of data tables, macro’s is a plus, criteria based formulas, and other analytical functions;

- Ability to manage multiple assignments / projects within tight time constraints.
