REGIONAL PROJECT MANAGER FOOD SAFETY – SAFEGUARD: Abbott Laboratories / Lake County, IL

Perform annual deep dive assessments in the North American nutrition manufacturing facilities, partnering closely with the site teams. Lead and/or support the implementation of the gap closure plans that are developed as an output of the annual assessments in conjunction with the site teams. Apply knowledge of FDA regulations and Subject Matter Expertise (SME) in dairy and liquid processing within nutritional product manufacturing environments. Implement analytics tools, improvements in sanitation methods, facility upgrades and/or cultural transformations. Lead and/or support the implementation of the Global Food Safety programs across the US regional plant/factory sites focusing on areas such as product monitoring, environmental monitoring, complaints management and culture and by applying . Champion program/project activity across North America for EMP/Sanitation and Product Monitoring workstreams. Responsible for project management activities, including developing and maintaining project plans, scope, budgets, and methodologies; driving accountability; and identifying and mitigating risks across a range of key projects. Manage execution of projects in accordance with organization’s project management methodology. Ensure team is working within project/program scope and effectively coordinate the activities of the team to meet project milestones. Proactively identify changes in project/program scope and assure appropriate measures are taken to reassess and amend requirements, budget, and timeline. Proactively identify, monitor, and manage program opportunities, issues, and risks and develop and implement Corrective Actions/Preventative Actions (CAPAs) where needed. Work directly with functional area managers to resolve issues that impact completion of project objectives: determine when to escalate issues to appropriate levels of management. Provide training/coaching to meet organizational needs. Provide technical background sufficient to understand issues involved with the project. Negotiate consensus among diverse groups and influence the activities of others not in own reporting structure. Up to 25% domestic or international required.

Master’s or foreign equivalent degree in Food Safety, Microbiology, or in a related field of study with at least 6 years of professional food safety, nutritional science, or microbiology experience in: (i) applying knowledge of FDA regulations and Subject Matter Expertise (SME) in dairy and liquid processing within nutritional product manufacturing environments; (ii) implementing analytics tools, improvements in sanitation methods, facility upgrades and/or cultural transformations; (iii) leading or supporting implementation of Food Safety programs across plant/factory sites focusing on areas such as product monitoring, environmental monitoring, complaints management and culture; (iv) applying  food safety knowledge and SME in Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP), Good Manufacturing Principles (GMPs), Environmental Monitoring Plans (EMPs), microbiology, and study design and results interpretation; (v) project management activities, including developing and maintaining project plans, scope, budgets, and methodologies; driving accountability; and identifying and mitigating risks across a range of key projects; and (vi) develop and implement Corrective Actions/Preventative Actions (CAPAs). Up to 25% domestic or international required.
