Intro and description of the Role Description

Leading the transformation and migration for the IES Cloud Services customers, our Cloud Networking group, designs, plans, and delivers, the OCI cloud infrastructure services for our hosted tenants. Ensuring Site UP is the top priority, we are laser focused on ensuring site reliability, performance, and security while leading migration efforts to the next generation cloud infrastructure. Consisting of a group of experienced Network Development Engineers, Cloud Architects, and Software Developers, the IES Cloud Network Engineering group is the high-octane engine powering the transformation of our Cloud based Network infrastructure.

Responsibilities

Role specific Responsibilities:

+ Design, Migrate, & Support Oracle Cloud based Virtual Network SaaS components including OCI US Government and Federal environments.

+ Design and deliver Virtual Cloud Network infrastructure and associated network transit from classic enterprise, hybrid and native cloud environments for Global Industry Units including Oracle Health and AI customers.

+ Author, present, and maintain Corporate Security Solution Assurance Process (CSSAP) documentation while assisting GIU tenants as well as Oracle Health and AI business units prepare and present theirs.

+ Lead the development and design of process and technology solutions enabling SaaS component risk assessment, defect cataloging, and maintenance prioritization.

+ Design and implement reporting and analytics measuring performance against OKRs, KPIs, and associated SLAS/OLAs.

+ Lead continuous improvement and engineering discipline maturity through Root Cause Analysis and Problem Avoidance.

+ Architect system demands and requirements into technical solutions.

+ Consult with and guide Global Industry Units and Oracle Health groups to migrate legacy environments to next generation Oracle Cloud Infrastructure providing interoperability, security, scalability, and availability for hosted cloud tenants.

+ Ensure Financial efficacy through optimal “right sizing” of infrastructure and cloud service components.

+ Participate in Live-Site Engineering reviews, of design plans, planned changes, and maintenance plans.

+ Assist Audit/Compliance Engineering partners with vulnerability risk assessment and remediation plans.

+ Assess and review new network component candidates (releases) for standards adoption and implementation to the Live Site environment.

+ Collaborate with peers and lead automation and innovation workshops for members of the extended organization.

Preferred Qualifications:

+ United States citizenship and federal criminal background check processing including but not limited to submission of SF-85 are requirements for this role.

+ Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, related field or equivalent practical & demonstrated experience

+ 5+ years professional experience engineering solutions and supporting carrier grade, IP based ISP, Webscale, and cloud-provider network environments.

+ Demonstrated progressive increase in role specific responsibilities and associated complexities

+ 5+ years of experience in Virtual Cloud Network technologies (OCI, Azure, AWS, GCS, etc)

+ Expert level acumen with Cloud and Network life cycle management (LCM) programs including an ability to create and maintain detailed technical documentation of network and cloud system designs, configurations, and methods of procedure.

+ Advanced level knowledge building infrastructure as code leveraging technologies including Terraform and Shepherd.

+ Operational experience with GIT based version control systems including foundational knowledge with branching, merge/pull requests concepts.

+ Expert level experience with internet routing protocols and concepts, including but not limited to IP, BGP, iBGP, EGP, MPLS, IS-IS, OSPF, IPSEC, & NAT.

+ Advanced level knowledge of IP addressing, CIDR, and RFC 1918 strategy and implementation best practices

+ Advanced level automation experience including proficiency in a combination of Python, Ansible, Chef, Docker, TerraForm, Shepherd, JSON, REST, iControl, Bash, Yaml, and iControlRest.

+ Advanced level knowledge of Layer 4-7 protocols including TCP, UDP, AH, ESP, SMB, RCP, TLS, SSL, HTTP, HTTPS, DNS, SNMP, SMTP, and SSH.

+ Demonstrated ability to perform protocol and packet analysis of traffic flows including HTTP, HTTPS communications

+ Advanced level experience in cloud environment design engineering, planning and support of IaaS, PaaS, SaaS, & LBaaS offerings.

+ Expert level experience in capacity management, traffic engineering, and performance optimization

+ Familiarity with system monitoring concepts and ability to define key performance indicators and thresholds for new services

Additional preferred skills and experience:

+ 4+ years Cloud based Network service design and management

+ 3+ years of experience with Oracle’s Autonomous Database, SQL Server, MySQL, or PLSQL

+ 4-5 years of experience designing or provisioning virtual cloud networks

+ Advanced level knowledge of multiple network operating systems including Cisco IOS/NX-OS, PAN-OS, TMOS, SDX, Arista EOS, etc.

+ Experience with Agile methodologies and Scrum.

+ Experience operating in a Linux/Unix environment

+ Experience translating and managing the Incident to Problem Management workflow through a combination of process automation, defect cataloging, data warehousing, reporting and analytics.

+ Demonstrated ability to interpret, describe, and modify CI/CD pipelines related to infrastructure projects

+ Practical experience with Apex, Oracle BI, Grafana, or Power BI for system analytics and reporting

+ Experience with network system change management and release management programs.

+ Experience with IP Network management tools and applications including IP Control, Blue Cat, and/or IPAM

+ Demonstrated ability to define and measure performance of Objectives and Key Results (OKRs), KPIs, Operational Level Agreements (OLAs), and Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
