Description We are offering a contract to hire employment opportunity for an Accounting Assistant in OAK BROOK, Illinois, 60523-4442, United States. As an Accounting Assistant, you will be performing a variety of tasks in the accounting and administrative fields.

Responsibilities:

- Execute account payables and check runs efficiently

- Handle and redirect phone calls appropriately

- Organize and schedule appointments and meetings

- Generate and distribute correspondence memos, letters, faxes, and forms

- Assist in the preparation of regularly scheduled reports

- Develop and maintain a filing system

- Order office supplies as needed

- Provide general support to visitors and answer their questions and requests

- Maintain supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed supplies; placing and expediting orders for supplies; verifying receipt of supplies

- Carry out administrative duties such as filing, typing, copying, binding, scanning, etc.

- Write letters and emails on behalf of other office staff

- Handle sensitive information in a confidential manner

- Coordinate office procedures

- Reply to email, telephone, or face to face inquiries

- Develop and update administrative systems to make them more efficient

- Resolve administrative problems

- Receive, sort, and distribute the mail

- Manage staff appointments

- Oversee and supervise the work of junior staff

- Maintain up-to-date employee holiday records

- Coordinate repairs to office equipment

- Greet and assist visitors to the office

- Photocopy and print out documents on behalf of other colleagues

- Provide polite and professional communication

- Implement clerical duties and administrative processes. Requirements – Proven experience in an Accounting Assistant role or similar

- Proficiency in managing Weekly Account Payable and Check Runs

- Demonstrable experience with Accounts Payable (AP)

- Strong administrative skills and experience providing Administrative Assistance

- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in work

- Proficiency in using accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite

- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team

- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is preferred

- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to make sound decisions

- Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial information.
