International Tax Matters Specialist

The International Tax Matters Specialist utilizes various systems and specialized expertise to prepare and file federal and provincial tax returns in Canada. Ensure the compliance of the Firm in Business Licensure across Canada. Establish the integrity of the underlying financial statements through preparation of month-end journal entries and reconciliations.

Prepare and analyze different types of tax returns to include:
Goods and Services Tax (GST)/Harmonized Sales Tax (HST)
Provincial Sales Tax (PST)
Canadian Federal Payroll Deductions
Canadian Workers Compensation Premiums
Canadian Partnership and Corporate Income Tax (Forms T5013 and T2)
Various US International Tax Compliance (Including forms 5471, 8865, 8858)
US Treasury Financial Bank Account Reports (FinCEN 114)

Collaborating with other departments, both internal and external, to ensure sales tax compliance.
Preparation and filing of employer T4 Summary and T4 Slips to the Canada Revenue Agency.
Preparation and filing of employer RL-1 Summary and RL-1 Slips to Revenu Quebec.
Research and apply for new business licenses, as well as renew currently held licenses, for all jurisdictions requiring them.
Special projects as assigned that could involve GST/HST, provincial sales tax, federal payroll deductions, workers compensation premiums, income taxes, and any other various international tax compliance matters as identified.
Ensures accuracy and compliance with laws and standards by maintaining financial records through the preparation and review of journal entries.
Reviews general ledger activity and prepares account reconciliations and work papers for various areas including GST/HST, provincial sales tax, federal payroll deductions, workers compensation premiums, and income taxes.
Analyzing differences between accounting systems and reconciling those differences to ensure accurate tax return filing and payment.

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree
Proficient in Microsoft Office
Ability to communicate verbally and written
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to work autonomously and part of a team
Effective organization and time management skills
High level of confidentiality

Preferred Qualifications:
Accounting, Finance, or Business major
1-2 years relevant experience
