Genetic Counselor Assistant, Department of Medical Genetics
Position Highlights:
Position: Genetic Counselor Assistant
Location: Evanston Hospital
Full Time/Part Time: Per Diem/Resource
Hours:Scheduled as needed Monday-Friday
What you will do:
Provide brief conversation related to the benefits of testing, clinical utility of testing, and the possible familial impacts of genetic testing.
Assist patient with decision to schedule an appointment or obtain testing for patients scheduled in GCC schedule
Document personal and family history and gather information necessary to determine reason for visit
Support informed decision making regarding genetic testing and health management options
Schedules new and established patient visits in accordance with patient preference and physician availability
Coordinate patient care daily via check-in, order input, paperwork organization, end of day follow up of no-shows/cancellations
Administrative duties as it relates to patient care and follow through
What you will need:
Education: Bachelor's degree required
Skills:
Strong communication skills
Ability to be flexible in meeting the demands of patients and physicians
Ability to multi-task and problem solve
Experience:
Minimum one year of work experience in genetic counseling setting preferred.
Experience with Epic or other EMR system preferred
Certification: n/a
