Job Description
Description We are looking for a dedicated Legal Assistant for our Chicago, Illinois-based team. This role revolves around assisting property tax analysts and partners in preparing property tax appeals and managing commercial real estate tax cases. The successful candidate will be adept at managing multiple tasks, working with minimal supervision, and maintaining attention to detail.
Responsibilities:
- Assist property tax analysts and managing partner in preparing property tax appeals
- Prepare and follow up on data requests via email, including necessary forms
- Request preliminary appraisal reports via email, including income information when necessary
- Upload data and forms to database programs and government portals as needed
- Prepare triennial and quadrennial contracts as directed
- Transcribe dictation to prepare correspondence to client and/or interoffice memorandum
- Work with commercial real estate tax, with clients mainly in Illinois, but also in Indiana and Wisconsin
- Use advanced computer skills and knowledge (Microsoft office suite- word, excel, access, and adobe) to manage tasks efficiently
- Demonstrate ability to multitask and determine changing priorities
- Collaborate as a team player and adapt to changing situations. Requirements – Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a Legal Assistant or in a related role
- Proficiency in case management software
- Familiarity with LexisNexis
- Experience in using management systems
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suites
- Ability to handle billing functions
- Experience in briefing and calendar management
- Excellent complaint handling skills
- Strong documentation skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work both independently and in a team
- Strong organizational and multi-tasking abilities
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills
- High level of professionalism and confidentiality
- Ability to work under pressure
- Bachelor’s degree in legal studies or related field is preferred.
