As the Chemical Production Engineer, you will use your knowledge of chemical process engineering fundamentals to help Honeywell Fluorine Products deliver innovative solutions that meet the evolving needs of our customers. You will work under direct supervision and alongside some of the world’s most talented engineers. You will contribute to the development of Honeywell’s next generation of Fluorine products by designing, testing and/or validating products from prototype to market. You will be part of a group of highly committed professionals who provide expertise and ensure the success of engineering projects and programs.

Position Summary:

The Chemical Production Engineer at the Metropolis, IL site provides technical expertise to ensure the operation produces product that meets all quality, cost, and efficiency requirements to a 24/7 manufacturing facility. This role will identify ways to improve safety, quality, yields, and the capability of existing processes. Core challenges include leading continuous process improvement to drive Key Performance Indicators for the operation, meeting goals established by the business, providing technical guidance to the operations team, assisting with process troubleshooting, and developing corrective action plans. The Metropolis site manufactures Uranium Hexafluoride (UF6) as part of the overall nuclear fuel conversion cycle.

KEY RESPONSIBLITIES:

· Support operations in troubleshooting daily process issues as needed

· Perform root cause analysis and implement process changes/control plans to drive continuous improvement and to improve baseline safety, quality, production, and cost performance

· Participate in site HSE and Process Safety Management programs, including Management of Change, Process Hazard Analysis, Root Cause Analysis, and Incident Investigations

· Identify and monitor Key Process Indicators to sustain optimal plant operations and deliver on production, yield, and cost targets

· Work closely with other site engineers to develop and implement innovative engineering solutions to improve OEE

· Mentor and train operations staff on unit design and intended/optimal operation Have a presence on the floor with front-line workers to find solutions

· Utilize Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing tools to drive process improvements

· Develop capital project scopes of work and associated process packages to improve or maintain unit operations

YOU MUST HAVE:

·Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as the sciences, technology, engineering or mathematics

·1+ years of experience within a manufacturing environment

WE VALUE:

·Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering

·2+ years of experience in chemical industry with at least 1 year in a production or process engineering role within a PSM regulated chemical manufacturing facility.

·Certification in Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing

·Excellent computer literacy

·Experience with identifying process changes and recommendations

·Strong interpersonal and communication skills
