This is a salaried exempt-level position

There are two shift supervisor positions open : one is for the 1st shift (6 AM – 2:30 PM) and one is for the 2nd shift (2 PM – 10:30 PM). This posting is for the 1st shift supervisor (6 AM – 2:30 PM)

Position Summary

The Shift Supervisor is responsible for the safety, training, supervision, and job performance of the Material Handlers and other team members on their assigned shift in the Tank Farm Operations, Barge Dock Operations, and Rail Operations to achieve efficiency, production, and quality goals while demonstrating a positive and inclusive culture at the facility.

Job Duties:

+ Responsible for leading their team by providing direction, leadership, motivation, communication, training, coaching, and discipline as needed, and within site guidelines, for all colleagues within the area of responsibility.

+ Actively model professional behaviors & ADM Values in the workplace and lead by example.

+ Demonstrate strong communication skills in both face-to-face and written communication.

+ Responsible for communicating shift performance, downtime issues, Root Cause analysis results for issues on shift, and other incident reports as occasion requires.

+ Plays an active role in coaching and training employees in programs including human safety, feed & food safety, quality, environmental standards, and Performance Excellence (CI).

+ Responsible for directing daily production and maintenance activities.

+ Responsible for scheduling of employees including scheduling for coverage and vacation time.

+ Responsible for ensuring cross-training is performed sufficiently to maintain safe and efficient performance onsite during all shifts.

+ Responsible for reporting defects and needed repairs via Maximo work requests (or similar), safety and environmental defects, or events/near misses via the Sphera Cloud reporting system (or similar).

+ Demonstrate commitment to improving safety, processes, and efficiency in all areas of operations.

+ Serve as the person in charge during shift for site operations providing direction and to provide technical guidance and other assistance, as needed.

+ Leads their Team in achieving Zero recordable / lost work time injuries.

+ Manage and direct all department operations to maximize operational efficiency and effectively control departmental costs.

+ Manage the training and coaching of all shift personnel to ensure adherence to proper safety practices, operating procedures, company systems, and compliance with policies and procedures.

+ Aligns with the Quincy Marketing team to coordinate loading/offloading of barges & meal trucks.

+ Other duties may be assigned.

+ Some trainings and team meetings will occur outside of regular shift hours and must be attended.

Job Requirements:

+ Prior experience leading/supervising people is strongly preferred.

+ Demonstrated self-starter and able to self-monitor with minimal oversight.

+ High school diploma or equivalent with strong fundamental skills (math, reading, writing)

+ Must have a valid driver’s license.

+ The ability to lead, engage, and motivate employees and colleagues and demonstrate leadership qualities to all plant personnel.

+ Demonstratable ownership, results-driven to achieve the goals established by leadership.

+ Ability to spend time working on a barge surface over water.

+ The ability to swim is required.

+ Must be able to walk long distances, work at heights, climb stairs, and ladders, and walk on catwalks and other elevated working platforms at various times throughout the shift.

+ Must be able to wear a respirator and be respirator qualified.

+ Full range of motion including the ability to lift, sit, bend, kneel, and stand for long periods is required.

+ Must be able to work in all types of climates both inside and out, including extreme hot and cold temperatures, noisy, dusty environments, and wear required PPE.

+ A thorough understanding of the Bean Barge Unloading, Tank Farm Receiving, Barge Docks Operations, and Rail Operations is not required.
