Who will you be working with?

As the Communications Specialist you’ll play a key role on the team, helping align our messaging with business goals and enhancing our corporate communications. You will work with various teams to make sure our communications are top-notch.

What do we want to know about you?

+ A Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field is strongly preferred.

+ You bring at least 5 years of experience in corporate communications.

+ Your writing skills are top-notch, and you can create content that’s easy to understand and engaging.

+ You have a knack for storytelling with a keen eye for detail and creativity.

+ You’re highly organized and great at solving problems.

+ You’ve got strong project and relationship management skills.

+ You can handle changing requirements and tight deadlines without breaking a sweat.

+ You’re proficient in Microsoft Office, especially PowerPoint.

Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

+ Bonus points if you have experience with video editing and website content management.

+ You can work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage complex issues with minimal guidance.

+ You navigate organizational structures with ease.

+ Experience in journalism or as a reporter on a local TV channel is a plus.

+ Strong roots in the Pittsburgh community are a plus, as you’ll be involved in local events.

What will your typical day look like?

1. Event Coordination: You’ll organize and coordinate company events, like all-employee meetings, leader meetings, community events, and other activities that boost our brand and keep employees engaged.

2. Content Creation: Writing will be a big part of your role. You’ll craft everything from news articles and speeches to employee emails, PowerPoint presentations, and videos. Your content should be clear, engaging, and aligned with our company’s goals.

3. Site-Specific Communications: You’ll manage and support communications at our Pittsburgh headquarters, ensuring consistent and effective messaging across all locations.

4. Employee Resource Groups: Partnering with the Director of Reputation Communications and employee resource group leaders, you’ll promote their initiatives and provide strategic communications advice.

5. Intranet Management: You’ll support the Senior Manager of Internal Communications in managing our intranet, working with the IT team to keep content fresh and useful.

7. Digital and Social Media: You’ll assist our Social Media Manager by creating content for our digital channels.

8. Internal Campaigns: You’ll help develop and run internal campaigns to boost employee engagement and ensure everyone is on the same page with our company values and initiatives.

9. Crisis Communication: Be ready to assist in planning and executing crisis communications, ensuring information is accurate and timely.

10. Local Community Engagement: Use your strong ties to the Pittsburgh community to develop communications that support local events and foster connections.

11. Ad Hoc Projects: Flexibility is key. You’ll support various projects as needed.

What about the physical demands of the job?

+ Work is predominately performed in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment.

+ Ability to be in a seated position for long periods of time.

+ Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time.

You may also be asked to perform other duties outside of your function or trade, for which adequate training will be provided if necessary.
