Key Responsibilities:

The Digital Transformation Specialist contributes to the development & implementation of United Cargo’s digital distribution channel strategy. Individual plays an integral role in ensuring United Cargo remains competitive and relevant in the digital technology space. This individual functions as a business ""owner"" of digital channel initiatives and is accountable for any work being proposed or performed within the platform. The Digital Transformation Specialist is a primary point of contact for the business users, IT counterparts, technology vendor(s) and customers to ensure all system-related activities are aligned with strategic direction. Individual is well-educated on technical functionality and uses that knowledge to guide internal and external collaborators. Overall objective is to implement the digital distribution channel strategy thereby enabling significant revenue opportunity for United Cargo.

Individual guides cross-functional team members thereby promoting a “working together” environment. Individual partners closely with IT and customer/vendor counterparts to coordinate technology deliverables, including development & maintenance work for web, direct connect, TME and digital marketplace. Position finds opportunity to keep UA Cargo competitive and relevant in the digital marketplace and looks for ways to drive efficiency and enhance customer experience throughout various channels.

Channel technology strategy/implementation

+ Contribute to the planning and development of distribution channel strategy to ensure United Cargo remains competitive and relevant in the digital technology space

+ Identify and action opptys to enhance UA presence and performance in high priority channels (ie web, direct connect, TMS and digital marketplace) Partner with key collaborators (internal and external) to achieve desired results

+ Analyze and report-out on key performance indicators for assigned initiatives

Distribution Channel Development and Management

+ Support the activities required to develop and implement UA Cargo’s digital distribution strategies

+ This includes, but is not limited to, implementing new web functionality, facilitating direct connect capabilities with select freight forwarders, enabling UA to participate in TMS arena and facilitating UA’s entrance into digital marketplaces

+ Guide UA Cargo involvement with customers and vendors, as it relates to direct connect, TMS and other customer-facing opptys

+ Take a lead role in developing business requirements and contributing to technical requirements for new enhancements

+ Improve customer’s digital experience thereby increasing adoption/penetration rates in digital channels

Communication/Relationships

+ Function as a primary point of contact, representing the business, for Strategy Cargo user community, Cargo IT and technology vendor staff

+ Support Manager in providing direction and guidance to internal partners to ensure alignment with strategy

+ Keeps abreast of new developments and the competitive landscape

+ Effectively manages the intake funnel, request prioritization process and progress of each request

Data Management and Reporting

+ Manage cargo distribution channel performance data, advise mgmt. of industry/UA trends and identify future opportunities

+ Coordinate with cargo team members to determine data needs and develop associated reporting capabilities

This is a Chicago-based, hybrid position that will require on average, three days per week in office.

What’s needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):

+ Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience

+ 3-5 years of proven web development, distribution technology and/or ecommerce experience

+ Experience in leading partners (internal & external) in a large-scale technology initiative

+ Proven experience in implementing distribution strategies for a large B2B organization

+ Demonstrated customer-facing experience in introducing new technology

+ A hands-on working knowledge of eCommerce functionality and capabilities

+ A strong working knowledge of B2B distribution channels (web, direct connect, TMS & digital marketplace) and related market trends

+ A strong working knowledge of product or channel launch for a global organizaiton in a B2B environment

+ Familiarity with cargo, logistics or travel industry

+ The ability to identify digital technology opportunities

+ Ability to lead cross-functional teams and effectively guide collaborators

+ Ability to contribute to strategic vision & complete it

+ Proven planning, project management, analytical & collaboration skills

+ Strong communication (verbal & written) & presentation skills

+ Ability to effectively interact with customer counterparts

+ Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship

+ Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification

+ Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position

What will help you propel from the pack (Preferred Qualifications):

+ Project Management Certification

+ Experience in functioning as the business “owner” for launching direct connect capabilities and/or introducing a company into a digital marketplace in the cargo industry

+ Working knowledge of Cargo industry

+ Strong understanding of cargo technology platforms and the competitive landscape

+ Being a subject matter expert (SME) in a leading cargo technology platform
