Position Highlights:
Position:Clinical Nurse Educator - Ambulatory Surgery
Location: Highland Park Hospital
Full Time/Part Time:Full-Time (40 hrs/wk)
Hours:Monday - Friday 0800 - 1630 with flexibility in scheduling as needed to meet the needs of the units.
Required Travel:Travel to other sites required.

What you will need:

License:Current professional Nursing licensure in the state of IL required
Education:Bachelor's degree in Nursing required; Master's degree in health related field preferred.
Certification:CPR/BLS required; ACLS and PALS certifications preferred. CAPA and/or CPAN required after 2 years.
Experience: 3+ years of ASU nursing experience preferred.
Skills:Collaborates with the education team to develop, maintain and present educational materials to include ASPAN Orientation, Instructor Led Training programs/orientation, initial and annual clinical staff competency and on-going support of professional development through continuing education programs; Acts as preceptor and mentor to new ASU/PACU staff; demonstrates ability to assess staff educational needs, designs and develops curricula to meet the ASU/PACU staff needs. Collaborates with ASU/PACU clinical nurse manager to plan, implement, and delivery of annual educational curricula.

What you will do:
Functions at 50% as ASU Staff Educator and 50% Staff Nurse
ASU Staff Educator provides education and evaluation to ASU nurses, PCTs and UCs and other ASU ancillary staff members
ASU Staff Educator designs and delivers educational programs, tools and services to promote competency and enhance the role performance of nursing personnel
ASU Staff Educator partners with the nursing leaders and key stakeholders to identify learning needs, plan and prioritize education to achieve organizational goals.ASU/PACU staff Educator coaches and mentors staff to continually advance their ability to provide superior patient care. The ASU staff Educator consistently demonstrates perianesthesia clinical competency
Utilizes the nursing process in planning, implementing, and evaluating the patient plan of care. Includes patient and family in the plan of care as appropriate.
