THE POSITION

 

Senior Staff Industrial Engineer, Continental Tire The Americas, LLC, Mt. Vernon, IL:

 

Design, develop, test, and evaluate integrated systems for managing industrial tire plant production processes. Create awareness about productivity and efficiency gaps among Continental tire plants and promote its closing (Key Performance Indicator analysis, Benchmarking activities). Coordinate and consolidate capacity calculation analysis driven by local Continental tires plants in the Americas through the implemented systems (Future Allocation Capacity planning & Tracking tool and Rolling Investment and Capacity Planning) and participate in productivity and plant capacity improvement initiatives and projects at regional level (Americas) with a clear focus on plant benefits. Participate in industrial engineering process maturity assessments for the Americas regional tire plants and facilitate gap closing activities. Provide Industrial Engineering Key Performance Indicators and relevant information to regional and worldwide Manufacturing management and non-plant functions. Collect plant requirements for design of new Industrial Engineering processes, Key Performance Indicators and systems and drive its implementation. Organize and provide industrial engineering related training to plant Industrial Engineers and support/coach them when required. Support plants in design and analysis of processes, plant capacity, plant layout, material flow, incentive systems. Participate in the alignment of equipment investment plans to manufacturing strategy and preparation studies for capital requests.

 

Full time employment, Monday – Friday, 40 hours per week.

 

Minimum Requirements:

 

Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related field or foreign equivalent, plus 5 years of progressive, post-baccalaureate, related work experience.

 

Must have 5 years of experience in each of the following:

 

  • Industrial engineering in an automotive manufacturing environment utilizing an understanding of processes, methods, tools, and systems that improve efficiencies and plant productivity;
  • Performing time analysis using a standard motion time system;
  • Estimating production times and staffing requirements including standardized work, work instructions, process flow, operator balance chart, and head count planning;
  • Utilizing Lean Manufacturing methodologies including structure problem solving, Pareto analysis, DMAIC process, 5 why’s, 5s, Value Stream mapping, and Kaizen; and
  • Data analysis for reviewing, interpreting and summarizing statistical data including Power BI, Excel, Intelligence business programs, or python.

 

Must have 4 years of experience working in a team leader or project manager position.

 

Must have 3 years of experience in each of the following:

 

  • Managing capacity calculation and analytic thinking to develop and review improvement actions that lead to productivity and efficiency gains;
  • Overseeing manufacturing process;
  • Working with operation areas to optimize material flow, line layout of current processes and future needs (equipment, tooling, or racking) by using CAD software to design scenarios; and
  • Working with cross-functional teams or participating in multidisciplinary work teams among plants, sharing best practices and fostering improvement actions.

 

Must have 2 years of experience in each of the following:

 

  • Active participation in ergonomic assessments and identifying opportunities for improvements in production line according to OSHA standards; and
  • Planning plant financial budget using and managing future forecasts to prioritize the best short and long term investment plan and head count.

 

International travel required up to 5%. Domestic travel required up to 25%.
