Job Overview

This position is responsible for planning, organizing, and leading key engineering administration initiatives within the North American Engineering and Development Division. Persons in this position will be team leaders who will be responsible for overseeing all engineering release & change control activities, standards, document services functions, budget reporting, and cost control within E&D. Personnel in this position will act as a liaison between engineering and procurement personnel to reduce costs and improve efficiencies.

Key Job Responsibilities

Manage and coordinate engineering change/release activities between U.S. Technical Centers and the manufacturing divisions. Work closely with engineering personnel to ensure the accurate and timely delivery of engineering data required to maintain and update the design of all products controlled by E&D.
Manage and coordinate E&D budget activities including monthly expense control, and variance reporting (monthly and project basis) for reporting to HQ. Create AR's and purchase orders for capital purchases, track status, and code invoices.
Manage the accuracy and transfer of engineering data between engineering systems such as CAD, G-DMS, SAP, and Baan. Coordinate all activities related to system interface issues to ensure the uninterrupted flow of engineering data.
Lead admin team to procure parts to support engineering tests, prototype development, and countermeasures, including supplier selection, price negotiation, placing purchase orders, tracking and expediting, reviewing shop orders for correct information and proper accounting, generate pick tags to pull material from production stock, and work with factory personnel to ensure proper delivery of requested parts.
Place purchase orders and update SharePoint sites for software license renewals, ensuring proper invoice coding, and negotiation with suppliers for price control.
Coordinate and co-chair meetings of the Concurrent Release Committee (CRC). Prepare and present all engineering change/release material for review and provide supporting data when requested by committee members representing all areas of the organization.
Office support at a higher level, including coordination of documents through Legal, maintaining organizational charts, new vendor set-up, meeting support and minutes, document control, and supporting the yearly tax credit initiatives.
Foster an attitude of teamwork and cooperation in all activities.
Communicate professionally and effectively with all customers, employees, and vendors.

Qualifications/Requirements

Bachelor's degree plus 7 years' experience in engineering administration, or 15 years' experience in engineering / manufacturing administration and/or accounting.
Strong project leadership and problem-solving skills.
Experience with capacity cost and asset management, including budget tracking / forecasting, monthly cost control, and cumulative tracking and reporting of independent development projects.
Extensive knowledge of the Pro/E, G-DMS, SAP, and Baan systems with the ability to learn new and customized systems.
Advanced knowledge of engineering bills of material, specification and standards, and material resource planning.
Strong negotiating skills and knowledge of the Komatsu Way.
