Role Summary:

Northern Trust Asset Management (NTAM) is seeking a Fixed Income Client Portfolio Manager (CPM) to support our Global Fixed Income Team. The CPM team is responsible for representing and advocating for our Fixed Income strategies to clients and internal partners by explaining, among other things, investment philosophy, platform, process, and performance. CPMs also play an important role in framing investment capabilities, contributing to thought leadership and innovation, and representing the "voice of the client". Embedded within the Fixed Income investment team, CPMs are the primary investment contact for internal partners and serve as a proxy for portfolio managers with clients. They play an important role in new business efforts, including education of, and partnership with, distribution partners throughout the sales and retention cycle.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a key contributor to the CPM team whose primary objective is to facilitate and accelerate growth and retention of our Fixed Income capabilities
  • Coordinate and contribute to development of high-quality materials such as presentations, thought leadership, and RFP responses to educate stakeholders
  • Support innovation through an in-depth knowledge of market trends and opportunities, portfolio construction, regulations, the competitive landscape, and NTAM capabilities



Desired Qualifications and Attributes:

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Relevant post-graduate work or progress toward is preferred (such as MBA or CFA)
  • Ability to think strategically, collaborate productively, and problem-solve effectively
  • At least 3 years of asset management industry experience that has provided exposure to Investment, Product, and/or Distribution teams.
  • Ability to develop and contribute to development of high quality content such as presentations, research papers, market commentary, RFPs, and value-added responses to client inquiries
  • Strong analytical skills including experience using financial systems and data, Microsoft Office suite (advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills). Coding aptitude is a plus (such as Python, SQL, etc.)
  • Strong writing ability
