Duties and Responsibilities
The Department of Medicine of the Loyola University Chicago, Health Sciences Campus are seeking a full time Assistant professor. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with University researchers to develop novel interactions between computational and biological sciences by applying the tools of multi-omics high-throughput data generation, statistics, computational modeling, and artificial intelligence to the understanding of biological interaction networks with biomedical applications. The faculty member will be expected to maintain an active role in research and service.
Establish and maintain an independent, externally funded research program; contribute to teaching graduate and medical education; a strong record of research publications; collaborate with department faculty & faculty in other departments/institutes; applies for research grants on an ongoing basis; act as faculty advisor; attend/participate in committee meetings and educational meetings as assigned.
Qualifications
Possession of a terminal degree in Bioinformatics or analogous field with at least ten years of experience in computational biology, predictive modeling of biological systems, and transcriptomics and integrative multi-omics analysis.
Preferred Qualifications
A demonstrated interest in creating a collaborative research environment, prior experience in multi-institution collaborations or consortia, applications of machine learning and artificial intelligence in biomedical research, and a robust publication history is preferred. Experience in host-microbiome interaction modeling and/or machine learning and Artificial Intelligence in analysis of HTP biological data a plus.
