Job Description:

This position is in the Silicon Architecture team of Microchip's FPGA Division, with a focus on new programmable fabric research & development. Microchip is a major supplier of low-power and highly-reliable field-programmable gate arrays (FPGAs), a type of programmable logic chip. Our FPGAs are used in a wide variety of applications, including: embedded vision; digital signal processing; machine learning; industrial and medical equipment; and satellites. Microchip is also a pioneer in embedding RiscV processors in FPGAs.The successful applicant will work as part a core team that develops future FPGA architectures, including programmable fabrics, IO, hard IP blocks, compute, system interconnect, configuration, security, and collaborates with design & software engineering to successfully architect, develop, verify, and integrate the future products.

Responsibilities will include a mixture of the following to suit your interests and skills:
Develop FPGA fabric architectures that support a range of applications across communications, industrial, and aerospace
Propose and evaluate logic, routing, and embedded IP for future FPGA architectures, and help drive performance, power, and cost targets
Propose and validate the incorporation of hardened functions to implement specialized accelerators for target applications, including machine learning
Develop FPGA application benchmarks & methodologies either by coding in RTL, using state-of-the-art high-level synthesis tools, or developing algorithms to generate them automatically
Develop other software tools to support architecture efforts, applying graph algorithms, statistical modeling, and combinatorial optimization, machine learning
Analyze and share data with various groups within the company, including Software Engineering, Circuit Design, Marketing and Applications Engineers. This broad organizational exposure will provide an unusual opportunity for learning and advancement
Proven ability to provide technical and/or management leadership suitable for an architecture team

We value articulate, creative, and self-motivated people.This senior role will have influence over future product directions and so experience in the FPGA industry is a desirable pre-requisite.Demonstration of analysis and design implementation in adjacent disciplines such as ASIC design, FPGA Applications and/or Systems Engineering, may also be acceptable.

Requirements/Qualifications:

Masters/PhD in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Math, Statistics or Physics
At least 15 years' relevant research and/or work experience in programmable architectures, applications implementation, or other relevant experience
Practical coding experience in Verilog, Python, or C/C++, demonstrated in research projects or prior work experience
Familiarity with at least one of these areas: digital logic design; circuit design on advanced product nodes; FPGA applications & implementation; data structures and algorithms; graph theory; linear algebra; processor... For full info follow application link.
