Join our communications team and play a role in delivering the firm's narrative to the market and telling the many stories unfolding here! We have an immediate opening in our Communications Department for an experienced and motivated Senior Manager, Public Relations.
The Senior Manager, Public Relations will provide ongoing PR and communications support, playing a key role in the day-to-day management of the firm's media relations and acting as communications counsel for a number of assigned practice areas. The person in this role will manage and execute a wide range of public relations and communications initiatives to raise the profile of the firm, its practices, and key individuals. They will contribute to - and implement - communications plans that support the firm's strategic priorities while elevating its brand and position in the market. They also will engage in proactive and reactive media relations, as well as assist with issues management.
In this capacity, the Senior Manager, Public Relations will:
Identify, manage and deliver opportunities for the firm to elevate its profile and reputation in the market through media coverage and other external communications channels;
Provide ongoing PR and communications, handling day-to-day inbound and outbound media relations, identifying proactive opportunities to pitch media and responding to media inquiries;
Develop and maintain relationships with relevant reporters and editors;
Take the lead on drafting and editing of PR and communications materials, including press releases, pitches, media briefings, messaging, Q&As and presentations;
Build and nurture effective relationships with partners and other key stakeholders; earning their respect as a trusted advisor;
Prepare partners and other stakeholders for media engagement, including developing materials such as briefings, key messages and talking points;
Assist and support senior members of the communications team with issues management;
In conjunction with senior team members, provide regular oversight of and guidance to external PR agencies in their efforts to support the firm, practices, and the communications team more broadly;
Coach junior members of the communications team;
Work beyond normal business hours, as needed; and
Additional projects and responsibilities as assigned.
Proficiencies:
Ability to influence and build trust with individuals at all levels of an organization, including senior and executive-level personnel;
Excellent organizational and multitasking skills, and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously;
Sound judgment and excellent attention to detail; and
Familiarity with business and legal terms and lexicon.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree (required);
At least 10 years of communications experience (required), preferably in a legal or professional services environment or a similar B2B environment; PR agency experience is a plus;
Significant media relations experience; Existing legal and business media relationships a plus;
Experience managing team members; and
Experience developing and implementing PR/communications plans and activities.
