The primary responsibility of a Driver Safety Instructor is to deliver classes certified by the National Safety Council which are designed to improve traffic skills, decrease the possibility of future traffic violations and reduce the possibility of serious or fatal collisions. This position reports to the Driver Safety Manager.

Responsibilities:
Be fully prepared to instruct all defensive driving courses certified to teach by the National Safety Council.

Have the ability to deliver quality defensive driving presentations in Kane, Kendall and DeKalb Counties in an organized and enthusiastic manner.

Ensure that the National Safety Council course materials are current and adequate for the anticipated student enrollment for any class scheduled to teach.

Attend the scheduled Instructor Meeting once each year.

Complete the Faculty Feedback Report for each class taught and return this report, the class roster and student evaluations immediately after class.

Communicate and answer inquiries from Driver Safety staff promptly.

Maintain security and confidentiality of student and court records.

Minimum Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent required.

Familiarity and access to a computer with the ability to send/receive emails with attachments.

Familiarity and access to a scanner and/or fax machine.

Experience with software applications such as Microsoft Office, Adobe and Windows.

Excellent verbal communication skills.

National Safety Council certification to teach the DDC 4 and/or the Alive at 25 Defensive Driving Courses (preferred).

Bilingual and Biliterate in English/Spanish.

Experience providing classroom instruction.

Background in traffic related education or enforcement.

Availability on evenings and weekends.
