Job Objective:
Within the Institute of Internal Auditors Code of Ethics, responsible to conduct audits of procedures, records, and various documents thoroughly, independently and precisely to ensure compliance with Salvation Army policies, regulations, procedures and internal controls and ensure the safe guarding of organizational assets.
Essential Functions:
* Plan audits and work with other team members for the completion of an audit
* Verify assets and liabilities by general audit procedures including bank reconciliations, financial statements, inventories, fixed assets, disaster services, facilities, contracts, counting petty cash and review backup for other cash assets, review receivables and payable journals, review of other liabilities and fund balance
* Verify income and expenses by general audit procedures, including review of receipting material and expense vouchers and journal entries
* Verify personnel records such as I-9 documentation, payroll records and employee personnel files and time records
* Investigate problem situations as directed
* Select and design field specific audit programs
* Prepare audit reports
* Suggest best practices for field staff
Education & Certification:
BS degree in Accounting, Finance or another applicable business related area.
Certified Internal Auditor (CIA); Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE)
Experience:
None required. One year financial or accounting auditing experience preferred.
OR: Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
* Working Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and E-Mail
* Ability to speak and understand English in a manner that is sufficient for effective communication with supervisors, employees, beneficiaries and customers and to perform the requirements of this job


Supervisory Responsibility:
May function as an in-charge auditor for an assigned audit. Direct, assign and check the work of auditors on the audit.

Travel:
Travel as needed to support and promote the programs of the department. Incumbent will travel up to 50% of the time.

Work is performed in a typical office environment. Full-time position; may require some weekend and evening work and travel
