The College of Lake County ( CLC ) is seeking an experienced Adjunct to serve in the role of strategic leader and program manager. This position will serve as the primary professional development liaison to all CLC adjunct faculty in the Teaching, Learning and Educational Technology Center ( TLETC ). The main duties are to provide faculty development to adjunct faculty, to ensure new adjunct faculty are oriented to the college, and to ensure faculty development topics promote faculty and student success.

Required Qualification(s)

+ Bachelor’s degree (any academic discipline) AND a minimum of three (3) years of teaching credit courses as an Adjunct at a community college, with at least two (2) credit courses in the previous three (3) calendar years.

+ Faculty Development Experience

+ Experience participating in or facilitating faculty development sessions

+ Demonstrated knowledge of educational pedagogy, technology and instructional design

+ Willingness to learn Faculty Development best practices for a community college

+ Interpersonal Skills

+ Excellent communication experience and skills

+ Strong relationship-building skills (e.g., a good listener, collaborator, and influencer)

+ Initiative to seek new opportunities and offer solutions

+ Organizational Skills

+ Self-starter, with a sense of urgency around work

+ Strong organizational, prioritization, and time management skills

+ Skilled at managing multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously

+ Proven ability to work effectively and constructively with persons of diverse cultures, language groups, and abilities; demonstrates sensitivity and ability to work with the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty, and staff, including those with disabilities; can establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.

Pay Rate $47,488/year Full-Time/Part-Time Full-Time Location Grayslake Total Hours per week 40.00 Work Schedule

Typical work week Monday through Friday 8:00am-4:30pm (flexible depending on adjunct faculty needs). Evenings and weekends will be occasionally required.

Summary of Essential Functions Strategic Leadership and Program Management 60%

+ Coordinates large-scale adjunct faculty professional development events including New Adjunct Faculty Orientation and the Kickoff Week Adjunct Faculty Development Evening.

+ Provides on-demand support with guidance to resources for those new adjunct faculty members hired shortly before or after the semester begins or those who are otherwise not able to attend the on-campus orientation.

+ Communicates and coordinates the Adjunct Faculty Institute.

+ Develops workshops specific to adjunct faculty knowledge and skill development.

+ Research current higher education trends and areas of interest ( POD Network, other adjunct faculty development groups) and incorporates them into department programs.

+ Acts as a mentor and advocate to adjunct faculty and supports the development of individual learning plans.

+ Collaborates with the TLETC Team and other faculty members to locate, develop, and share resources related to teaching and learning.

+ Maintains consistent communication with CLC Department Chairs and Associate Deans or designees specific to adjunct faculty development needs.

+ Conducts and analyzes data from annual faculty development needs assessment for adjunct faculty. Makes programming recommendations based on this data.

+ Prepares and recommends budget allocations for adjunct faculty development programs.

+ Co-chairs the Faculty Development Advisory Committee.

Department Operations and Procedures 30%

+ Coordinates communication for adjunct faculty regarding services, registration, credit, and resources for professional development opportunities.

+ Develops and manages the adjunct faculty resources on the TLETC website/Canvas site.

+ Assists the TLETC Academic Director, Faculty Professional Learning with the development and implementation of marketing strategies to help faculty participate in TLETC and College professional development opportunities that align with the College’s strategic plan and student success initiatives.

+ Assists in the updating of the TLETC , professional development, and campus-relevant opportunities for all faculty on the TLETC website and calendar.

+ Assists with the tracking and reporting of adjunct faculty professional development and stipend payments.

+ Develops and manages the adjunct faculty data regarding attendance and involvement in faculty development initiatives, as well as follow-ups to participation.

Other duties 10%

+ Builds and maintains relationships with adjunct faculty by attending department/division meetings, visiting adjunct faculty shared workspaces, establishing direct outreach to CLC adjunct faculty, and communicating with different CLC employee groups.

+ Serves on other committees as assigned (e.g., the Kickoff Week plan
