Job Description
The Highlights:
Responsible for all aspects of processing Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) to ensure all FA eligible students are adhering to set policy. The Academic Progress Coordinator works closely with the Director of Compliance and Asst. Director of Policy to ensure timely adherence to federal regulations regarding SAP. This position also monitors and processes SAP appeals, reviews weekly and quarterly reports to assign necessary suspensions and updates, works with Academic Advisors and university officials to gather details about students' progress and ability to succeed under the established guidelines.
What You'll Do:
Coordinating the SAP process with appropriate Systems, Operations and Service teams at the conclusion of each term to ensure qualitative, quantitative and maximum time frame requirements are met and timely notification to students of changes in eligibility related to progress and completion requirements.
Coordinating the SAP appeal process, reviewing appeals, scheduling/serving on the appeals committee and finalization of committee outcomes and outreach.
Monitor daily activity of the SAP Mailbox and respond appropriately, including counseling students who are impacted by SAP of next steps and required actions. Review and coordinate weekly and quarterly reports and SAP activities.
Evaluating federal, state, and/or institutional requirements for SAP against institutional policies and practices - and assessing needs and recommending changes to ensure continued compliance. Serve as the subject matter expert on SAP regulations and the application of said regulations to University policy, which may include staff training.
This position is responsible for processing more than $1MM in Federal Student Aid.
What You'll Need:
Bachelors degree required. 3-5 years of financial aid work experience strongly preferred.
NASFAA SAP Credentials a plus
Solid understanding of federal financial aid regulations, with knowledge of the Satisfactory Academic Progress regulations.
