Where you will work
The Elwood facility produces bathroom tissue, household paper towels, facial tissue, and napkins for major retail outlets throughout the United States. The Clearwater Paper facility sits on 14 acres and boasts over 200 talented employees. The manufacturing process at Elwood is highly automated with 9 converting lines utilizing slitters, rewinders, wrappers, and a variety of laser guided vehicles. What you will do
The Electrician is responsible for all electrical functions of machines and equipment across the paper facility including preventive and non-preventive maintenance.
Operational and Quality Control
Perform installation, configuration and troubleshooting of photo eyes, proximity switches, limit switches, PLC input/output modules and all associated control wiring
Provide troubleshooting expertise in analog and digital controls with 480V, 3-phase power distribution systems, motors, variable frequency drives, servo drives, and soft starts
Maintain and troubleshoot position feedback devices encoders, load cells, and hydraulic systems.
Programming and troubleshooting of DCS, PLC and HMI interfaces.
Perform configuration and logic modifications to DCS and PLC control systems. Modifications will include programming in ladder and statement logic.
Troubleshoot and diagnose configuration and implementation of integrated and stand-alone graphic human-machine interfaces.
Troubleshoot and diagnose specification of communication protocols, including Profibus, serial and industrial Ethernet.
Troubleshoot and diagnose equipment issues utilizing electrical schematics
Diagnose and perform preventive maintenance on Laser Guided Vehicles, conveyors, and production equipment.
Train Operators in performing minor maintenance tasks
Safety and Housekeeping
Hold self and others to high level of safety standards, ensuring workplace safety policies are upheld and safety rules are followed (lockout/tagout procedures, appropriate PPE, etc.)
Participate as needed in safety incidents and help investigate root cause
Ensure work environment is clean and free from debris
What you will need
High school diploma or equivalent experience
Minimum 2 years demonstrated industrial electrical experience or 2 years of related education (Associate's Degree) in lieu of experience required
Demonstrated experience working with programmable logic controllers (PLCs), pneumatics, or hydraulic systems required
Experienced in working with computerized maintenance system preferred
Experience with troubleshooting and performing maintenance on packaging equipment in a manufacturing environment preferred
Internal candidates must have completed a minimum of Level 5 Qualification
Thorough understanding of manufacturing safety procedures (lockout/tagout, confine spaces, personal protective equipment, etc.) preferred
PLC programming preferred
Ability to work on a variety of machines (Perini rewinders, UNO wrappers, Infinity wrappers, folded machines, etc.) preferred
Experience with electrical encoders, servomotors, and amplifiers preferred
