Network Engineer job responsibilities include:
Plan and develop new network hardware and services to allow the IS department to serve the growing needs of the company, working with partnering vendors as needed.
Document network systems and services to share knowledge with IS team members. Provide occasional training to team members.
Maintain and improve networks and related systems so that major systems are reliably available, and downtime is minimal for 24-hour operations. Ensure after-hours coverage to respond to emergency failures.
Install, configure, manage, and monitor network devices, including switches, routers, firewalls, VPN, and load balancers.
Assist in data center installs, provision network access ports and physical cable infrastructure for data center systems.
Provide direction to our MSP (managed server provider) to ensure successful day-to-day administration, troubleshooting and repair of the enterprise network.
Ensures LAN/WAN environments are secure, and appropriate recovery and redundancy issues are addressed.
Work closely with the Security team in applying standards necessary to keep the network safe and secure from interruption.
Monitor performance of network devices to identify problems, bottlenecks, and provide evidence when it is not the network.
Maintain technical expertise in all areas of network and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such as routers, multiplexers, firewalls, bridges, gateways, etc.
Evaluate and reports on emerging communications technologies to enhance capabilities of the network.
Position Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in computer or math-related field preferred; equivalent related computer experience may substitute for degree.
Hands-on and in-depth experience with configuring and maintaining network equipment such as switches, routers, firewalls, and other network appliances.
Comprehensive understanding of routing and switching protocols such as OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, and VLANS.
Experience with Next-Generation Firewalls (Checkpoint, Cisco).
Experience with cloud-based applications and environments such as Office/365, Azure, GCP or AWS.
Experience configuring and maintaining DNS, IMAP, IPSec, LDAP, VLAN and NFS.
Experience with SD-WAN, DIA, MPLSExperience installing, configuring, troubleshooting wireless Access Points and wireless networking. Aruba preferred
Knowledge and experience of infrastructure monitoring solutions to include system monitoring, log management and event analysis (Datadog, SolarWinds, etc.).
Experience configuring and troubleshooting VMware ESX networking.
Ability to program and support hosted VOIP telephone infrastructure.
Excellent trouble-shooting skills with proven ability to identify and address root cause. Strong time-management, organization, and prioritization skills. Highly analytical and detail oriented, with strong problem-solving skills.
Possess technical knowledge and coordination & communication skills to organize and participate in complex, enterprise-wide projects.
Experience implementing and enforcing 802.1X/802.11 standards on networks.
Knowledge of and experience with IPS / IDS / Zero Trust solutions
Knowledge of and experience with implementing and managing a certificate authority for PKI
Thorough knowledge of and ability to use various wireless client tools to detect and resolve issues.
Thorough knowledge of networking fundamentals including VLANs, subnets, protocols, and standards
CCNA, CCNP, CCIE desired
Experience mitigating and isolating wireless attacks.
Ability to use tools to detect rogue access points.
Your Compensation:
$92,552 - $120,296yr. based upon relevant experience.
