THE OPPORTUNITY
Reporting to the Process Engineering Manager, the Process Engineer will:
Take a personal and active approach to health, safety, and environmental issues including compliance with all company policies and government regulations.
Monitor long-term plant operations, help troubleshoot process and equipment problems, identify data trends, and make recommendations to correct the data trends and setting process control limits.
Oversee plant Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) by supporting cross-functional evaluation and improvement, participating in root cause analysis as needed, and making recommendations to solve or eliminate root causes.
Supply others with technical advice, analysis, and help with researching solutions. Provide training assistance on technical issues associated with operating equipment.
Spearhead the resolution of quality problems, review and approve new operating parameters, and ensure that intermediate and product analysis and statistical trends are in control.
Evaluate all recommended process-related capital projects to determine which projects should be pursued, as well as lead project installations. Function as the technical advisor to Project Engineering group for any relevant capital project handled by that department.
Support equipment commissioning activities, assist in developing commissioning and start-up procedures for new equipment, help coordinate and plan special product trials, act as primary contact for certain projects as appropriate, and support the technical department in performing engineering studies designed to increase production, decrease costs, reduce energy, improve safety and assure quality and reliability.
Gain a strong understanding of operator activities by spending time learning in the plant.
THE QUALIFICATIONS
The right candidate will be a self-motivated individual with good organizational and communication skills. Your credentials ideally include:
Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, or alternative engineering background with chemical industry experience required.
Experience in the following areas is preferred:
Root cause investigation
Continuous Improvement: Lean, Six Sigma, project execution skills
Measurement of asset utilization or overall equipment effectiveness and development of improvement plan based on data
Troubleshooting of deviations in flow, temperature, pressure, pH, amperage, etc.
Writing of procedures & operating instruction
