Summary:

Under the leadership of the Director, Quality Improvement & Training the manager will oversee the integration of revenue cycle improvement initiatives in a disciplined and outcome-driven approach. He/she will manage projects supported by strategic partners to Rush and will ensure alignment across and between Rush, its partners and its vendors. He/she will interface closely with strategic partners and Rush revenue cycle leadership/staff to identify areas of opportunity, develop plans for addressing gaps, and ensure that initiatives being implemented take into account all aspects of the revenue cycle and can be seamlessly integrated into existing processes. He/she will also work very closely with Information Technology and other stakeholders to ensure they are appropriately represented in revenue cycle initiatives and that their needs are being met. He/she ensures effective system operations, participates in strategic planning initiatives, drives the implementation of plans, and oversees daily workflows for specific functional duties and areas of responsibility. Required Job Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent work experience in relevant area(s).

- A minimum of three years previous work experience in healthcare with a minimum of one year in revenue cycle

- Familiarity with Epic and/or experience with technology integration.

- Demonstrated ability to root cause assess, identify opportunities, and recommend solutions.

- Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively.

- Demonstrated change management leadership skills

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to set and adhere to boundaries in a professional manner

- Advanced project management skills with ability to manage multiple concurrent deliverables at the same time.

- Strong problem solving and financial analytical skills.

- Advanced proficiency in MS Office Suite

- Ability to interact professionally with all levels of employees.

- Adaptable with an entrepreneurial mindset; willingness to accept challenges and grow

Preferred Job Qualifications:

- Professional certification (Lean six sigma certification, project management professional) and/or Master’s degree (Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or Public Health) preferred.

Responsibilities:

- Manages the Revenue Improvement Program devoted to improving revenue realization through improved efficiency, workflow design, technology and innovation in concert with strategic partners. The program’s aims consist of but are not limited to:

o Prioritizing and aligning initiatives to drive KPI improvement

o Integrating improvement initiatives across revenue cycle functional areas and strategic partners

o Streamlining and standardizing operations to increase efficiency and reduce variability and enhancing control environment

o Managing change to accelerate adoption of new workflows, technologies and innovations.

- Identifies areas of improvement: Identifies technology (Epic and non-Epic) or process solutions to improve revenue cycle efficiency and cash realization.

- Oversees prioritization of revenue cycle program integration initiatives with strategic partner. Ensures completion of deliverables and evaluation of return for initiatives.

- In collaboration with Revenue Cycle leadership, establishes performance metrics for revenue cycle initiatives and programmatic integrations. Monitors performance and integration in connection with these metrics, proactively identifying opportunities for improvement and communicating these opportunities with appropriate leadership/areas.

- Collaborates with Rush strategic partners and Revenue Cycle leadership on relevant activities and ensures interdependencies with operational teams have appropriate hand-offs. Proactively communicates to achieve seamless workflows and achievement of overall Revenue Cycle objectives.

- Monitor fulfillment of strategic partner’s contractual obligations per timeline and outcome; utilizing process measures and KPIs; detailed documentation required; multiple concurrent deliverables

- Ensure role clarity and adherence to collaborative operating processes and systems; provide clear direction and expectations for project owners, whether internal to Rush or Rush’s partner

- Leverages technology to ensure that automated solutions and applications (Epic and non-Epic) support functional objectives. Remediates gaps where necessary.

- Identifies, develops, and maintains reporting and management tools vital to achieving objectives.

- Coach and guide teams and leaders through change processes; provide critical feedback;

- Facilitate joint meetings; present plans, findings and outcomes to leadership; provide ongoing leader engagement.

- Consistently promotes and supports a team approach to innovation in programs and problem solving both in collaboration with other Revenue Cycle and non-Revenue Cycle stakeholder departments.

- Develops and maintains effective working relationships with Rush strategic partners and internal stakeholders; navigates a fast-paced and changing organizational structure in a highly matrixed environment

- Stays abreast of industry changes affecting functional area and Revenue Cycle, and identifies potential impact and required changes. Promotes best practices within functional area and within Revenue Cycle.

- Ensures adherence to state and federal regulatory statutes as it pertains to Revenue Cycle.

- Adheres to and supports Revenue Cycle departmental administrative policies.
