Job Description: Associate Specialist, Energy Trading Support

Department: Global Operations

Summary: Northern Trust Hedge Fund Services is a rapidly expanding Global fund administrator, specializing in administering assets of complex hedge funds. This position requires specialized knowledge of Energy trading Gas & Power in the European and the North American markets.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Liaise with trading desks, associates and counterparties to resolve trade discrepancies, cash and position breaks for Energy Trading.
  • Work with clients and technology teams to on board new clients utilizing various internal and vendor systems to map energy trading activity from CTRM to hedge fund middle and back office systems correctly.
  • Knowledge of CTRM like Endur/Allegro and building products from trade capture to valuation.
  • Knowledge of settling invoices with the Storage and Transport facilities for gas on a monthly basis
  • Knowledge of Energy exchanges across EMEA/NA regions like JAO, PJM, EEX, NODAL, ERCOT.
  • Knowledge of different products that trade in these markets including futures, spot, swaps at various frequencies (yearly, monthly, daily, intraday, weekend, day ahead.)
  • Knowledge of various pricing vendors for energy products like Morning Star, Heron, Platts. to help ensure accurate P&
  • Very good knowledge of life cycle of energy /physical products how they move between futures, spot and physical conversions.
  • Implement process improvements to increase efficiencies and work on various ad-hoc projects at the direction of senior management
  • Manage daily breaks with FCMs, hubs, exchanges and clients and get them resolved.
  • Work with the accounting team at month end to resolve any NAV related issues with Gas molecules



Minimum Qualifications (Education, Experience, Skills):

  • Minimum of 3-5 years operations experience working with energy products in EMEA/NA
  • Deep understanding of instruments in the energy space.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office experience with databases (Alteryx/Python/SQL/PowerBI)
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, comfortable in a client facing role
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines in an extremely time sensitive conditions
  • Experience documenting requirements, writing BRDs, coordinating testing or project management skills a plus
  • Knowledge of basic accounting principles and familiarity with financial markets and instruments



Education:
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or related field
