Job Purpose

The purpose of a product engineer at MacLean-Fogg is to develop products, processes, and measurement techniques to support the launch and production of good quality products for our customers. This role will interface with customers in the development of product designs and timelines, as well as internal cross functional teams to support the setup and launch of new products. This role does require the individual to maintain organized documentation according to automotive/QMS requirements. We are looking for team members to collaborate and welcome process improvement suggestions. Our team is looking for an individual with a creative and innovative spirit to help progress the business forward.

Duties, Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Create, maintain, and improve product designs to meet customer requirements.
  • Work with CAD to create and modify drawings of products for production.
  • Coordinate with vendors and customers to ensure product designs meet internal and external expectations.
  • Develop measurement processes to ensure products meet customer requirements.
  • Perform functions related to advanced product quality planning (APQP).
  • Analyze and determine the tooling and process designs necessary to produce new and current parts within cost and quality requirements.
  • Create detailed product structures and routings for new products for manufacture.
  • Manage projects requiring the delivery of prototypes to customers.
  • Assist in production process problem solving as directed.
  • Keep up with current technology and processes by attending conferences and seminars, including knowledge of recent developments.
  • Keep management and leaders aware of projects and/or problems.
  • Advise and serve on Material Review Board (MRB).
  • Adhere to Company Quality Policy and follow appropriate procedures as documented in the training agreement.
  • Follow safety rules and keep work area in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.


Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

  • Four year college or university education in Mechanical, Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Must be proficient in computer aided drafting (CAD) design and other sophisticated computer software, SolidWorks preferred.
  • Must understand production processes, manufacturing materials, cost analysis and tool making.
  • Must be proficient in MS Office.
  • Must understand quality assurance procedures.
  • Understanding or experience in lean principles.
  • Must have good interpersonal verbal and written communication skills.
