Position Summary


The primary responsibility of this role is to raise the profile of the Firm and the Chicago office in the Chicago market and around the White & Case network. This includes several activities including events, marketing and sponsorship initiatives and working with the partners and associates to ensure that they are active in the Chicago legal and business community. The person will also work to identify priority clients for the Chicago office and support efforts to institutionalize these relationships. The person will work with practice BD staff that support the partners in the Chicago office.

 

Duties and Accountabilities


Raising the Profile of the Chicago Office
Support a process to build the Chicago office's brand in the Midwestern and national marketplace by, for example, identifying the market perceptions of the Chicago office and developing a plan for addressing those perceptions and agreeing messaging for the office that differentiates us.
Support a range of initiatives to raise the profile of the office in the Chicago market including:
Events working with the global Events team (including maintaining mailing lists).
Sponsorship opportunities.
Board and charitable opportunities for the partners and associates.
Press opportunities working with the global Media Relations team.
Drafting submissions for legal directories and awards that are not covered by the practice BD team.
Preparation and maintenance of information about the Chicago office and lawyers on the Firm's website.
Internal Communications
Work with our global Internal Communications team to develop an internal communications plan. This would include office communications including regarding BD activities and communications and other activities that raise the internal profile of the office within the Firm's network.
Develop relationships with key BD team members across the network to develop client opportunities.
Business Development
Work with practice-based BD team to ensure an efficient system for supporting pitches and other client development activities.
Train associates and PAs to support BD activities.
Identify priority clients at the Firm level that are relevant to the Chicago office and priority clients in the Chicago and wider Midwestern market.
Support partners and associates working to build institutional relationships with the Chicago priority clients.
Ensure that partners and associates are sharing information in the Firm's marketing systems.

Qualifications

College degree.
Ten years or more in a global professional services organization preferably within the BD and Marketing area.
Strong communication skills.
Strong research and writing skills.
Ability to work with partners and influence them.
Skilled with Word, PowerPoint, Excel and excellent editing skills.
Creative, extremely organized, hardworking.
Able to work independently without direct supervision as well as a team player with an understanding of the Firm, its clients, and the Chicago legal and business market.
