Job Description
The Director of Imaging and Clinical Systems plays a key role in defining the strategic vision, roadmap, and development of digital imaging applications that improve medical imaging workflows and diagnostic accuracy. This position is responsible for the development of near-term tactical plans and a strategic, longer-range roadmap to increase automation, improve efficiency, service quality and reduce the overall cost of ownership for all assigned applications. The position is responsible for the implementation and ongoing operations of enterprise-wide imaging systems supporting Radiology, Cardiology, and other ancillary department imaging needs. This position is responsible for the oversight, development, implementation, and technical management of systems. For Radiology systems, this includes is not limited to Radiology systems, Radiology PACS and the supporting subsystems such as the Radiology Information System (RIS), Voice Recognition dictation system, post processing systems; for Cardiology systems, this includes is not limited to systems supporting Cath, EP, Echo, Vascular and EKG, and supporting subsystems. Additional ancillary imaging systems present and future are part of the scope of responsibility. Scope of the job includes strategic capital and operational planning and budgeting for acquisition and maintenance of systems, team management, vendor management, contract negotiation, and all aspects of project management for implementing and managing application software initiatives. The Director will drive continuous improvement by staying updated on industry trends, modern technologies, and standard processes in digital imaging and healthcare IT.

This individual maintains existing applications, implements new solutions and manages the internal development of systems in accordance with best practice and regulatory compliance not limited to ensuring smooth flow of work processes in utilization of clinical and imaging systems throughout the medical center, monitoring utilization processes, security and updates. The Director will work with clinical service line leaders and department leadership to identify present and future system and strategic technology needs. The Director will work with all Information Management Department leadership and areas to ensure coordination of system support, changes, implementations, storage/archive support, and planning for system growth and replacement. Work is accomplished through self and staff, and frequent interaction with physicians, clinical and operational leaders, and staff across the organization.

Maintains direct knowledge of current and future capabilities across the imaging and clinical applications portfolio.

Advises IM management and relevant steering committees regarding the direction of advanced imaging and clinical systems and applications.

Develops roadmaps and long-range plans for all applications in the imaging and clinical portfolio.

Highly engaged at an industry-level.

Maintains strong understanding of technology and its application to achieve clinical and business objectives.

Prepares analysis and/or proposals with professional acumen.

Provides strategic and operational leadership for lifecycle management, including selection, implementation, maintenance, upgrade, and enhancement of imaging and clinical systems.

Influences the integration of imaging and clinical systems and operational objectives with the various other medical center applications.

Incorporates best practices to improve existing organizational methods and processes.

Works closely with other IM and clinical leadership in developing short- and long-range plans and reviews these plans with senior IM leadership as well as other organizational management.

Ensures that the interaction and communication with key business and clinical leaders promotes full understanding of imaging and clinical systems strategies and goals.

Co-manages effective governance and portfolio management of imaging and clinical applications to ensure stakeholder engagement, consensus on prioritization, effective resource management, and functional accountability through all phases of imaging and clinical application product lifecycle.
