Overview
The role of the Customs Compliance Supervisor is to maintain PepsiCo Chicago's internal controls related to import regulatory compliance, and to serve as internal subject matter expert for international Customs, trade and logistics. The Customs Compliance Sr. Supervisor will review, assess and communicate the risk of the regulatory changes related to U.S. imports, especially changes associated with food regulations. The role investigates trade restrictions, duty requirements and labelling restrictions/specifications and provides recommendations to internal project teams in order to make decisions on ingredients/packaging and finished goods. The role will ensure unrestricted movement of customer shipments, finished goods, ingredients and packaging across US borders. In order to ensure the highest levels of compliance and import efficiency, this role will develop and maintain relationships with US government agencies such as US Customs and Border Protection, US Food and Drug Administration, US Homeland Security, and the US Department of Agriculture. The Customs Compliance Sr. Supervisor will evaluate trade services providers, negotiate fees and services and manage the business relationship to ensure value for service from our Customs brokers and freight forwarders. The Customs Compliance Sr. Supervisor is PepsiCo Chicago's international logistics subject matter expert and is relied upon to offer support when needed to all internal teams, as well as to educate others on requirements to engage in international trade, on specific risks that international supply chains impose on project timelines and on ways to improve existing international shipping processes.

Responsibilities
* Assist in setting the strategy and monitor import activity for all PepsiCo Chicago importers to ensure the highest level of import compliance, reduce risk of penalties, liquidated damages, overpayment of duties, taxes or other supply chain costs
* Perform monthly compliance audits using ACE reports
* Assist in managing import value reconciliation process for the applicable importers
* Work on USMCA validation processes for both imported and exported products between PepsiCo facilities in North America, as well as to and from 3rd party suppliers
* Lead as import/export subject matter expert in new product introduction, logistics integration and process improvement projects for PepsiCo Chicago
* Ensure the applicable PepsiCo Chicago importer maintain C-TPAT certification at current levels in order to continue receiving benefits
* Lead communication and actively participate in action plans to address new requirements under the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA)
* Help manage all Customs brokers and freight forwarders that provide services for PepsiCo Chicago importers
* Review and assess risk of U.S. governmental regulations changes affecting cross border and international trade and ensure corporate compliance
* Serve as sector lead for the annual ocean freight bid process
* Partner with service providers to automate tracking, information sharing, and auditing as part of the import function's continuous improvement
* Actively investigate and implement opportunities to reduce supply chain costs for imported goods, including opportunities for duty drawback
* Lead logistics projects as assigned by Customs Compliance Manager

Compensation and Benefits:
* The expected compensation range for this position is between $72,900 - $122,100 based on a full-time schedule.
* Location, confirmed job-related skills and experience will be considered in setting actual starting salary.
* Bonus based on performance and eligibility; target payout is 5% of annual salary paid out annually.
* Paid time off subject to eligibility, including paid parental leave, vacation, sick, and bereavement.

Qualifications
* This position requires a college degree and, at a minimum, three to five years of Customs Compliance and international supply chain experience
* Customs brokers license is recommended but not required
* Knowledge of US Customs audit principles
* In depth knowledge of U.S. Customs legislation and regulations affecting cross border and international trade
* Experience is required with U.S. government programs and processes including ACE, Reconciliation, C-TPAT, USMCA, and Duty Drawback
* Must have strong knowledge of various modes of transportation and understanding of broad supply chain function
* Excellent written and oral communication skills required, as well as demonstrated documentation skills.
* Strong ability to influence change and negotiate with internal and external partners
* Must be self-starter and require minimal daily direction.
* Highly motivated and able to work with multiple teams simultaneously & prioritize work to balance/achieve conflicting milestones & resource constraints.
* Technical proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
