Duties and Responsibilities 
 Summary:

The Research Technologies Coordinator is a subject matter expert in statistical, survey, and qualitative data research tools and services. The coordinator regularly reviews and assesses the state of these tools (patterns of use, licensing, gap-analysis) at the university and leads efforts to meet the changing research technology needs of faculty, students, and staff. The coordinator, along with a staff of research assistants, provides support to students, faculty, and staff in using research applications for coursework, classrooms, research, presentations, and other academic needs. The coordinator designs training programs and support processes for the most commonly-used research applications, e.g., in-person or online sessions, specialized documentation if needed. The incumbent is responsible for working with faculty, students and staff via short and long-term consultations, training, and basic support. The position requires a highly motivated, dedicated, and enthusiastic person who will provide expertise and guidance in the use of a wide variety of quantitative and qualitative research applications and online survey applications.

 

Primary responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Advise and assist faculty in the use of statistical applications, qualitative data analysis (QDA) applications, and online survey software to enhance teaching and learning.
Delegate tasks to graduate student workers and provide advice/assistance to workers when needed.
Support new learning environments and new learning technologies.
Provide general support and training sessions for statistical, QDA, and online survey software.
Evaluate and assess the research technologies environment/solutions for the university through committee work.
Manage projects related to the research technologies environment, e.g., Online Survey Software Assessment project, on an as-needed basis.
Work with the Manager of Technology and Innovation on vendor relations, licensing, updates, and technical issues (resolution of bugs, installation of patches, etc.) for statistical, QDA, and online survey software applications supported by ITRS.
Serve as the co-brand administrator of Qualtrics which involves the generation and analysis of use statistics, and management of permissions for users, user categories, and SSO parameters, and brand-wide technical issues.
Test and document research applications available in teaching and learning spaces.
Keep abreast of issues in trends in the research technologies field.
May collaborate on other projects and committees as needed.
Minimum Education and/or Work Experience 
 Experience in an educational support environment, strong analytical skills, excellent communication skills, both oral and written are required for a person in this position. A master's degree in the social sciences, public health sciences, statistics, or education with some specialization in research methods. A minimum of 5 to 7 years of progressively significant experience including 3+ years of experience in research design, assessment, and data management and use of statistical, QDA, and online survey technologies in the support of teaching, learning, research and assessment is required.
