Job Description
Senior Supplier Quality Engineers with Rivian Automotive, LLC in Normal, IL. Drive supplier APQP to meet quality and timing expectations for PPAP. Promote the use of Rivian preferred techniques for continuous improvement such as Lean, Six-Sigma, Poka-Yoke (Error Proofing), Measurement System Analysis, and PFMEA. Manage and coordinate PPM, supplier problem solving on time, cost recovery and supplier warranty indicators. Report on KPIs to support the Quality organization to monitor and report on supplier product quality and performance. Review supplier manufacturing processes, collaborate with suppliers on process improvement and value enhancement opportunities (VA/VE) and advanced working knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC), Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), and Lean Manufacturing. Perform on-site supplier visits for root cause analysis and verification of correction actions of supplier quality issues. Support Purchasing team to strategically source parts by auditing, reviewing, and assessing supplier manufacturing processes and quality management systems. Support new product launches to ensure that supplier quality meets the required standards. 50% domestic and int’l travel required.
RQMTS: Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Industrial Engineering, Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related field and 2 years [or a Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent as stated above and 5 years] of experience in any occupation of quality engineer or related. Experience must include: SPC, GD&T, and Lean Manufacturing; APQP, PPAP, 8D; Manufacturing/assembly process; DFMEA, PFMEA, and control plans; 6 Sigma greenbelt or blackbelt; and ISO9001/IATF16949 standards.
