Principal Associate, Data Scientist - US Card

As a Data Scientist at Capital One you will leverage analytic and technical skills to innovate, build, and maintain well-managed data solutions and capabilities to tackle business problems.

Role Description:
In this role, you will: This role will sit within the Bureau Data Strategy team, which is within Card Data and supports a broad internal customer base. The team is charged with proactively generating insights that drive value creation in Card underwriting.
This high-impact role is uniquely positioned with exposure to tech, modeling, product, and the US Card business teams and it involves: developing credit bureau data and industry subject matter expertise; developing and maintaining strategic partnerships; performing deep dive analysis on credit bureau data; presenting analysis to senior stakeholders; and contributing to production-level monitoring infrastructure.

Statistically-minded. You've built models, validated them, and backtested them. You know how to interpret a confusion matrix or a ROC curve. You have experience with clustering, classification, sentiment analysis, time series, and deep learning.

A data guru. "Big data" doesn't faze you. You have the skills to retrieve, combine, and analyze data from a variety of sources and structures. You know understanding the data is often the key to great data science.

Basic Qualifications:

Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining a Bachelor's Degree plus 5 years of experience in data analytics, or currently has, or is in the process of obtaining a Master's Degree plus 3 years in data analytics, or currently has, or is in the process of obtaining PhD, with an expectation that required degree will be obtained on or before the scheduled start date

At least 1 year of experience in open source programming languages for large scale data analysis

At least 1 year of experience with machine learning

At least 1 year of experience with relational databases

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's Degree in "STEM" field (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics) plus 3 years of experience in data analytics, or PhD in "STEM" field (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics)

At least 3 years of experience with machine learning

At least 3 years of experience with Spark

At least 3 years of experience with SQL

At least 1 year of experience with AWS

At least 3 years of experience with Python, including Object Oriented Programming, unit testing, and design patterns

At least 3 years of experience with data storytelling and presenting to senior leadership
