Description

 

The VIP clerk is responsible for receiving VIP product into the system. The system is a stand-alone and not associated with the current facility systems. Product is checked for damage. Product will either be stowed in a location within the VIP department or set aside to be received into the Baker & Taylor receiving system. The VIP clerk must take stowed product and pack into cartons for shipment once the entire order has been received into the VIP system. The packed orders are for customers and must transported to the Shipping department to be shipped out. The VIP clerk is responsible for all the functions that make up the process of shipping to customers. The functions are receiving, stowing, packing, and transporting to Shipping.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
* Removes products from cartons. Scans barcode on product using mounted scanner.
* Matches paperwork and moves product to designated areas
* Places products into proper slot locations for multi orders
* Picks product from assigned slots when orders are completed
* Verify completed orders for accuracy.
* Pack up completed orders in the appropriate sized bubble wrap envelope or corrugate
* Palletize packages based on shipping needs
Work Environment
The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Qualifications

 

Required Skills & Experience
* High school graduate or equivalent and up to three months experience.
* Knowledge of scanning equipment. PC and 10 key skills helpful.
* Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences.
* Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's and perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
* Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions and deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, use hands and fingers, reach with hands and arms, and frequently talk, hear, and lift/move up to 10 pounds. The employee must occasionally walk; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and lift/move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision requirements include close vision in order to view PC/CRT monitor
