Job Description
COOK (Mount Prospect, IL)
Prepare and serve quality and healthy meals in a private household for family members and their guests, including parties, holiday meals, special gatherings, and other social events; plan, prepare, cook, and serve menus according to the household’s recipes, tastes, and diet restrictions; prepare raw food for cooking by washing, peeling, cutting, and seasoning; monitor food during the cooking process including testing, turning and/or stirring; regulate cooking temperatures of ovens, broilers, grills, and roasters, etc.; properly package meals for outside events; exhibit excellent service and a positive attitude toward household members and their guests; perform regular kitchen and storage area clean up, sweep/mop floors, wash/scrub sinks, ovens, stove, and grill; maintain food inventory and ensure food and supplies for the next meal are readily available; make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such actions and maintain confidentiality.
High School diploma or foreign equivalent degree and 24 months of full-time experience in the job required. Must be able to cook traditional Kyrgyz meals, including Plov, Shashlik, Shorpo, Oromo, Kuurdak, and Lagman. $45,406 per year. M-F, 40 hrs/wk.
