Job Description

As Plastipak Plant Engineer - HVAC / Pump Room, you assure safe, reliable & efficient operation of our Champaign site industrial mechanical systems, specifically, the HVAC, compressor systems and pump room systems. Reporting to the Plant Engineering Manager, you lead a team of skilled technicians & collaborate with peers to achieve optimal plant performance.

 

You Will

  • Develop & direct plans for maintenance & performance of plant support systems, including pump room systems, compressors & HVAC chillers.
  • Continually measure & assess existing systems, identifying current & potential issues.
  • Direct & perform troubleshooting & repairs, serving as the emergency contact in our 24/7 facility
  • Develop project proposals to improve systems efficiency, reliability & overall performance, including refurbishment or replacement recommendations, project requirements & budget estimates
  • As project manager, establish project plans & schedules and oversee project workflow to ensure projects delivery achieves time, quality & budget objectives. Youll manage multiple projects simultaneously, working closely with stakeholders, vendors & technicians
  • Procure parts & manage vendors
  • Maintain appropriate documentation, recordkeeping & reporting
  • Contribute to our safety culture & continued ranking as an America's Safest Companies

 

You Have

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • An expert-level knowledge of industrial mechanical systems, including HVAC chillers, pump systems & compressor systems
  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience maintaining & improving medium/large commercial & institutional HVAC systems, inclusive of industrial compressor & pump applications
  • Demonstrated project management skills, including the ability to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Critical thinking & exceptional problem-solving skills
  • The following attributes: Proactive, resourceful & highly motivated to succeed in a high output environment
  • Registered Professional Engineer License, preferred.
