Key Responsibilities:

The Director, Engagement Communications is responsible for crafting communications that shape the way employees feel about United. Leading all aspects of our internal daily news brief, “United Daily” as well as our HR communications and employee critical communications teams, your work is all about engaging employees around the world in our story. You’ll lead a team dedicated to driving pride and trust within United by connecting the dots between what’s going on in the world, our company priorities and the stories of the 90,000 employees who serve our customers every day.

+ Create and implement a dynamic communication strategy and plan that drives employee engagement and meaningful connection to the company’s strategy, brand and culture – set ambitious goals, find opportunities for innovation and deliver information employees need to be successful at United.

+ Oversee editorial plan, process and content for intranet, daily news and connected display screens (EIDS) across the airline.

+ Lead a team responsible for integrated employee communication campaigns that demonstrate United’s leadership in our global network, sustainability plans, DE&I strategy and more.

+ Partner with HR and other corporate services teams to make sure we clearly communicate all the ways United takes care of employees and recognizes their contributions.

+ Maintain on call rotation schedule for team and provide counsel on critical business updates and events requiring off hours support.

+ Manage employee crisis and critical information framework, balancing confidentiality with transparency and building out channels that give us access to employees wherever they work.

+ Partner closely with teams across Corporate Communications including PR/Media, Social & Advertising, Operations Communications, Storytelling and Creative Services to align on high visibility campaigns and stories that advance and build our brand with our partners.

Qualifications

Required

+ Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree preferred

+ 12+ years of experience in communications, marketing, journalism, strategy or related role

+ Experience directly managing teams

+ Experience guiding strategy, leading with influence and driving consensus across various stakeholders

+ Understanding of and experience with various communications channels ranging from intranet portals and email newsletters to video and social media

+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to communicate a range of different topics

+ A problem solver, innately curious and proactive!
