Email a Friend Save Save Apply Now Position Summary: The SPD Staff Educator develops, plans, implements and evaluates educational programs to meet the needs of Sterile Processing Department and to aide in the professional development of staff. Maintains open and active communication with the medical staff, patient care staff, and interdepartmental staff. Ensures the competency of All SPD staff. Maintains departmental education records in compliance with regulatory guidelines. Oversees quality and infection control initiatives for SPD department. Performs quarterly audits of employee records. Qualifications: EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS None Required CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) upon hire or Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT) upon hire or Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) upon hire. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS Four (4) years in a related field. required SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE Knowledge of SPM, Epic and Lawson computer systems. Communicates Effectively. Possesses verbal, written and presentation skills. Ability to facilitate groups. Knowledge of adult learning principals. Knowledge of teaching and management skills. Strong organizational and multi tasking skills, Program development skills, and computer skills. Essential Functions:

+ Provides in-services and continuing education activities to all SPD Staff in collaboration with service group leaders to maintain departmental goals and standards of care at multiple facilities.

+ Plans, develops, implements, evaluates and maintains a written, progressive, performance-level orientation program that incorporates departmental goals and standards for SPD staff positions for multiple facilities.

+ Establishes and maintains appropriate systems for measuring necessary aspects of staff competency training and development at multiple facilities.

+ Performs all essential functions of SPD Technician when needed.

+ Attends meetings related to SPD department and project updates.

+ Responsible for performance improvements and quality initiatives.
