Job Description

Hamilton Sundstrand Corporation d/b/a Collins Aerospace has an opening for a Senior Engineer, Software Engineering in Rockford, IL. This position allows work from home up to one day per week; must work in the Rockford, Illinois office 4 days a week.

Conduct and coordinate moderately complex tests for control and diagnostic systems that contain logical and mathematical solutions. Conduct multidisciplinary research in assisting equipment designers in the planning, design, development, and utilization of electronic data processing systems for product and commercial software to develop software engineering activities. Analyze system capabilities and determines end user needs to resolve problems on program intent, output requirements and input data acquisition to ensure current and future needs of the business are met. Ensure hardware and software standards are met. Design and implement build procedures that are used to support hardware and software product development and use. Develop software configuration standards for company-wide use.

Must possess a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, or a related field and at least 5 years of progressive experience as a Software Engineer within the aerospace domain. In the alternative, must possess a master’s degree or its equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, or a related field and 3 years of experience as a Software Engineer within the aerospace domain will be acceptable. Must also possess the following: at least 3 years of development and verification experience in Secondary Power Distribution System Software, ARINC 615 compliant Dataload Software, performing Hardware/Software Integration Testing, Software Integration Testing for the Electrical Power Distribution System; at least 3 years of experience with directing and strategic management of Software Verification Life Cycle, specification, integration, design, verification, and problem troubleshooting; at least 3 years of experience working closely with Aircraft OEM during ground testing, diagnosing system requirements incompatibilities, chronic hardware/software faults and wiring error; at least 3 years of experience with Micro Board In the Loop (MBIL) Test Equipment for Electric System; and at least 3 years of experience with scripting, Aerospace Diagnostic Debugging and Flight Software Interface tools.
