Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY
Responsible for improved availability and reliability of plant instrumentation equipment through the use of proper maintenance practices and preventive/predictive procedures. To ensure all plant instrumentation systems function as designed with minimal outage occurrences and durations.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- 2+ years technical degree in Electrical / Electronic Technology degree preferred
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- 5+ years work experience as an instrumentation technician required.
- 2+ years work experience in electronic and pneumatic control systems required.
- Demonstrable ability to interpret and diagnose issues within ladder logic.
- Journeyman level of knowledge on electrical motors, transmission, and distribution systems.
- Demonstrated ability to read and interpret P&ID’s and electrical drawings.
- Demonstrated competency of analytical problem solving, troubleshooting abilities, and leadership skills.
- Thorough understanding of Instrumentation maintenance work practices and NEC.
- Experience with computerized maintenance management systems, such as Maximo.
- Basic skills in Microsoft Office Suite required.
- Working knowledge of NFPA 70E and industry standards for plant equipment and instrumentation, and related codes and standards.
- Fluent in English, oral and written required.
MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Assist in development and managing shutdown and turnaround activities
- Maintain and promote a high degree of safe work practices within the work group
- Thorough and concise oral and written communication with plant personnel, vendors and suppliers
- Assist with development of training for technicians to enable proficiency in all I&E activities
- Interface and coordinate with area planners, purchasing, vendors, contactors to maintain parts and material supplies
- Interface and coordinate work priorities with Operations Supervisors, Technical Services, Maintenance Planning and Maintenance Management
- Identify scope and frequency of equipment to be included in the Preventive & Predictive Maintenance/Reliability Improvement Program
- Manage the site’s electrical condition monitoring program and instrumentation database
- Identify and resolve chronic equipment failures utilizing a logical RCA process with cross-discipline support, where appropriate.
- Perform QA/QC for new projects and maintenance work
- Regularly communicate with supervisor work progress, concerns, and questions
- Function as SME for Instrumentation Maintenance group
- Ability to work independently, requiring guidance in only the most complex situations.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast paced environment
- Ability to adjust schedule to meet business needs

- Consistently prevent unscheduled shutdowns through proper communications with other departments and planners.
- Efficiently develop cost effective upgrading.
- Maintain a high degree of safe work practices within the work group while interfacing with other departments.
- Train I&E Technicians to broaden knowledge and experience.
- Ensure all plant instrumentation systems function as designed with minimal outage occurrences and durations.
- Facilitate the completion of the site’s I&E As-Built Drawing process.
- Drive reliability initiatives within the I&E discipline.
- Partner with the I&E Supervisor to develop technicians and improve I&E reliability metrics.
- Adherence to all company policies and procedures.
