Position Title: Associate Food Scientist, Nourish Ventures
Hiring Manager: Gregory Meyers, Director Technical & Process Innovation, Nourish Ventures
Location: Remote
Summary: Supports Technical Diligence for NA through inventory and material management while conducting applied science pre- and post-investment to fulfill our Purpose and achieve business plan goals.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Provide necessary support for Nourish Ventures R&D Scientists and Culinarians and external collaborators.
Manage multiple priorities and timelines at the direction of team or project manager, Director, Manager, or Scientist.
Work as a team member and independently to solve problems, suggest improvements, and support other teams as needed.
Work efficiently within Griffith Foods/Nourish Ventures information systems.
Use technical training and skills in weighing liquid and powder ingredients accurately on lab and analytical scales.
Prepare sample blends and finished products to assess prospect materials for internal and external review.
Prepare finished products for sensory panels and supports panel execution as needed.
Provide feedback to Director, Manager, or Scientists on any operational issue or troubleshooting opportunity on blends or finished product.
Prepare and package sample shipments.
Support maintenance of R&D laboratory ingredient inventory by retrieving ingredients from Samples, providing appropriate label designation, maintaining approved ingredients, and removing obsolete or eliminated materials.
Contact Samples, supplier, customer, or Scientist when additional materials are needed.
Track incoming samples and materials. Assigns Nourish Ventures lot numbers.
Maintain a clean working environment by washing and sanitizing workstation, equipment, and surrounding area.
Adhere to all department procedures, GLP's and GMP's.
Support maintenance of R&D storage areas; cabinets, bunker, balcony, freezers, and coolers.
May participate in Descriptive Sensory Panels and Difference from Control Panels upon completion of official training program.
May support trade show activities. Prepare and distribute food products on the show floor.
Qualifications:
BA in Food Science or related technical degree.
1+ years of relevant experience in R&D, Innovation, or related department.
In-depth understanding of scientific / experimental process and good scientific practices.
Exposure to a range of food product forms and processes.
Demonstrated knowledge of ingredient functionality across a wide range of ingredients.
Demonstrated ability to set up and conduct experiments.
