About This Role:
The Commerce Data Engineer is responsible for building and maintaining the data foundation of the Commerce business unit, automating and aggregating data from internal systems as well as external vendors and agencies. As a key member of the Commerce Operations team, the Data Engineer collaborates with analysts and Commerce leadership to create data models that power business intelligence and analytics across business planning, cohort analysis, trial experiences, and direct purchase.
They are a self-driven individual with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, able to quickly comprehend and adapt to emerging priorities and thrive in a fast-paced, high-performing environment.
To be successful in this role, you should have entry-level exposure to database design, be comfortable dealing with large and complex data sets, have experience leveraging standard cloud-based toolsets, be comfortable using visualization tools, and be able to apply your skills to generate insights that help solve business problems.
What You'll Do:

Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and ETL processes to ingest, clean, and transform data from various sources using tools such as Matillion ETL

Optimize data workflows and implement best practices for data management and governance

Develop and maintain a data platform that serves as the foundation of the Commerce business unit, automating and aggregating data from internal systems as well as external vendors and agencies.

Monitor, resolve, and document data alert issues or outages, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations

Update and create comprehensive wiki documentation for datasets and data engineering processes, tools, and best practices

Educate your partners: Use your data and analytics experience to ‘see what’s missing’, identifying and addressing gaps in their existing processes
What You'll Need:
-
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline
-
1-3 years of industry experience in Data Engineering, BI Engineering, Software Engineering or related field with a track record of manipulating, processing, and extracting value from large datasets

Experience with ETL tools and processes, specifically Matillion
-
Experience with Snowflake
-
Demonstrated strength in SQL, data modeling, ETL development, and data warehousing
-
Hands-on development experience in Python or similar scripting language for automation

Effective communication, at scale, through multiple media: presentations, dashboards, company-wide datasets, bots and more
-
Demonstrated understanding of development processes and agile methodologies

Intellectually curious and willing to learn
Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with Salesforce, Bizible, Marketo

Experience with Tableau

Experience with Git and Linux

Experience with eCommerce or Business Management a plus
