This is truly an innovative role in the DEI space for an individual with superb communication skills, an ability to harness data, experience managing the intricacies and sensitivities around DEI, and an understanding of storytelling across different formats and channels.

A critical aspect of this role is partnering with our communications team to lead efforts focused on unifying Uber’s DEI brand globally. The ideal candidate will have practical experience curating events that leverage innovative content in support of our vision: supporting our DEI strategy where inclusion drives innovation, and our platform empowers people and communities to move ahead in life.

This role will report into the DEI Director of Platform & Society and can be remote within the United States.

What You’ll Do

+ Work closely with the IDEA leadership team to create a DEI narrative and shared language that communicates our vision and strategy and is relevant to Uber and our culture. Develop messaging that helps differentiate Uber’s DEI offerings and elevates the messages that unite us rather than divide us

+ Work in partnership with Uber’s data teams to analyze and leverage the most compelling data visualization for DEI content

+ Develop messaging that simplifies complex DEI issues both internally and externally; contribute thought leadership at the cross-industry level around Uber’s commitment to help establish a ‘consistent and comparable measurement framework for DEI data’

+ Work closely with Uber’s Comms and Marketing teams to ensure a ‘One Uber’ approach to all DEI content by developing a cohesive DEI comms strategy and calendar (tentpole moments/heritage months, ERG comms support, branding, etc.)

+ Create compelling content to support the IDEA team’s key internal and external deliverables (i.e. our DEI report within Uber’s ESG Report )

+ Serve as a liaison between DEI cross-industry partners and Uber’s Comms Team to ensure alignment on messaging

+ Provide support where required as a speechwriter for the CDIO, and ensure alignment with the Comms Team

+ Partner with Comms, Legal and Employer Brand to develop Uber’s DEI Talking Points Playbook

+ Lead the information architecture, design, maintenance, and creation of new pages for the IDEA Team’s Intranet pages

+ Define success metrics and measure the efficacy of DEI communications campaigns

Basic Qualifications

+ An excellent writer and content creator: You can quickly understand and articulate what we need employees to know, feel, and do; distill complex ideas into simple, honest and compelling communication; have an inclusive, global lens; are proficient in traditional and digital channels.

+ Excellent project management and organizational skills: You are creative, self-motivated, and have the ability to prioritize and coordinate multiple tasks/projects simultaneously while still being detail oriented.

+ Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, particularly in building relationships with cross-functional leaders.

+ 8 years experience working in and around DEI issues, social impact, communications and storytelling, and data analysis

+ A Global Lens: You’ve worked across different global markets and bring a cross-cultural lens to everything you do.

+ Professional-level experience as a speechwriter and / or report author

+ Proficiency in copywriting

Preferred Qualifications

+ Ability to excel in a fast paced environment.

+ Background in content creation

+ Experience working in a globally-led, collaborative organization.

For Chicago, IL-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$162,000 per year – USD$180,000 per year. For Dallas, TX-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$162,000 per year – USD$180,000 per year. For New York, NY-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$180,000 per year – USD$200,000 per year. For San Francisco, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$180,000 per year – USD$200,000 per year. For Seattle, WA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$162,000 per year – USD$180,000 per year. For all US locations, you will be eligible to participate in Uber’s bonus program, and may be offered an equity award & other types of comp. You will also be eligible for various benefits.
