Overview

As an Asset Protection Manager for Wayfair, you will support the Store Leadership team in achieving company objectives by managing all Asset Protection programs and policies within the store. This key role will have the tremendous responsibility of keeping our associates, customers and our store safe. In addition, you may provide support with regard to external theft mitigation and thwart Organized Retail Crime trends. This includes networking with law enforcement, asset protection professionals and other retailers to identify and create comprehensive case files for repeat external theft perpetrators and minimize exposure to loss and fraud. This position will further support the Regional Asset Protection Manager(s) by conducting awareness training, root cause analysis and threat assessments.

What You’ll Do

IMPROVING OPERATIONAL EXECUTION AND PROFIT PERFORMANCE

  • Support, promote and actively demonstrate company values related to customer experience which includes training and development of associates through motivational and effective coaching.
  • Work with Regional Asset Protection Manager and store management to identify priorities and develop appropriate operational and profit improvement strategies.
  • Analyze key metrics to identify operational deficiencies and financial risks, and develop tactics to improve.
  • Conduct ongoing merchandise protection training, ensure timely completion of certification programs, assist with all new-hire training and in-depth training for specialized positions.
  • Responsible for timely reviews of operational processes for compliance including inventory movement, inbound/outbound, cash office procedures, and omnichannel processes. Develop tactics for improvement, as necessary.
  • Train and validate process execution related to inventory management functions.
  • Schedule and conduct required asset protection, operations and safety related audits.
  • Conduct weekly data analysis to assess and report on trends to store leadership and RAPM.
  • Assist Store Manager and Operations Team with planning, training, preparing and execution of the annual inventory.

EXTERNAL AND INTERNAL THEFT IDENTIFICATION AND RESOLUTION

  • Detection, investigation, and documentation of internal and external theft, and other violations of law and/or company policy.
  • Oversee case development and disposition and effectively manage multiple case assignments.
  • Monitor for indicators of external and internal loss and report all circumstances or incidents to the Regional Asset Protection Manager.
  • Utilization of covert equipment and CCTV within company policy.
  • Proactively monitor controls and conduct local and remote surveillance to identify possible dishonest activity – internal and external.
  • Utilize point of sale exception reporting tools and cash over / short reports to identify and react to abnormal or suspicious activity and training opportunities.
  • Respond to and investigate all instances of reported and suspected dishonesty and abuse, conduct integrity and witness interviews, gather, and maintain appropriate evidence and support disciplinary and prosecution.
  • Effectively network with retail and government resources to identify, investigate, and address organized retail crime activities.

PHYSICAL SECURITY AND SAFETY

  • Responsible for conducting store asset protection assessments to ensure compliance with company processes and legal requirements, including restaurant operations.
  • Ensure compliance with physical building security to include key control, monthly alarm tests, alarm call response and store alarm call list is maintained.
  • Ensure the safety and security of associates, customers, and property per local regulations to include off site and external storage locations.
  • Ensures compliance of safety related standard operating procedures for the building, service areas, PIV inspections and safety, food safety, ADA compliance and hazardous waste. Reviews communications for safety updates/product liability.
  • Maintain vendor and company certifications required to inspect/conduct services, remain educated on current OSHA regulations applicable to store environment and ensure store compliance.
  • Ensures all necessary licenses and permits related to areas of responsibility are up to date and works with applicable departments to renew prior to expiration.
  • May function as the store safety committee leader and completing all required documentation
  • Reviews safety trends and develops action plans regularly with the store leadership team
  • Serves as the shrink coach and is responsible for all related duties, including executing the store shrink business plan.
  • Responsible for supporting risk management claims and documentation.
  • Responsible for coordination of event safety to include law enforcement support.
  • Partners with Regional Asset Protection Manager and Asset Protection team members to resolve any alarm and CCTV issues.
  • Ensures any key or safe combination changes occur upon changes in management.

TALENT AND TEAM DEVELOPMENT

  • Responsible for recruiting, hiring and staffing a team of professional and effective asset protection team members.
  • Conduct new hire orientation & physical security manager store walks
  • Create weekly team schedules to ensure sufficient coverage of the building at all times
  • Develop and delivers team performance reviews
  • Train all store associates and managers on company safety and security programs to ensure compliance.
  • Train all Asset Protection team members and create development plans
  • Build cross-functional partnerships with all store leadership

What You’ll Need

  • 5+ years of asset protection experience in a retail environment
  • 3+ years of supervisory experience required
  • 3+ years in a multi-unit or big box Asset Protection manager capacity required
  • A flexible schedule (nights, weekends and some holidays) required
  • Ability to form strong partnerships with stakeholders required
  • Relevant work experience within the security, asset protection and/or law enforcement/intelligence field. Bachelor’s Degree not required but preferred.
  • Certification in Wicklander Zulawski Interviewing preferred, but not required.
  • Certification in an Asset Protection related field is a plus, but not required (e.g. Loss Prevention Professional (LPP), Certified Forensic Interviewer (CFI), LPC or LPQ).
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of security and life safety concepts, best practices, policies, programs, and procedures. Preferably in a retail environment.
  • Experienced in the investigation of internal and external crime.
  • Sound business skills such as budgeting, strategic planning, and good decision-making ability.
  • Proficient with physical security design, development, and implementation.
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills, and demonstrated experience with hypothesis-driven learning and turning data into actionable insights.
