Summary This position is located in FIELD OPERATIONS DIRECTORATE FFICE OF FIELD OPERATIONS DISTRICT 34 Chicago IL Field Office. As an Supervisory Operations Support Specialist, you will serve as the technical subject matter expert in a variety of administrative and management programs. Manage the organization, evaluation, and improvement of services and processes; and plan and adjust the priorities of the work to be accomplished. Responsibilities Supervise Operations Support Specialists who assess the productivity, effectiveness, and efficiency of program operations or analyze and resolve problems in the effectiveness and efficiency of administrative support and staff activities. Serve as the technical subject matter expert in a variety of administrative and management programs related to facilities management, procurement, asset and fleet management, budget/financial management, telework and customer relations. Assign work based on priorities, selective consideration of the difficulty and requirements of assignments, and the capabilities of employees; set and adjust short-term priorities and set target dates for work completion. Listen to and resolve minor complaints from individual employees, as well as resolve group grievances involving non-supervisory subordinates. This position IS NOT considered “essential” for purposes of reporting to work when the facility might otherwise be closed. Residency Requirement: There is a residency requirement for all applicants not currently employed by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services. This residency requirement states that candidates must have, for three of the last five years immediately prior to applying for this position; (1) resided in the United States; OR (2) worked for the United States Government as an employee overseas in a Federal or Military capacity, OR (3) been a dependent of a U.S. Federal or Military employee serving overseas. Supervisory/Managerial Probationary Period: You may be required to serve a twelve-month probationary period upon appointment to this position. You may also be required to complete an appropriate supervisory training within one of assignment to this position. Qualifications The qualifications for this position must be met by 11:59 PM (Eastern Time) on 06/24/2024. Current Federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the lower grade or equivalent grade band in the Federal service. The Time-in-Grade requirement must be met by 11:59 PM (Eastern Time) on 06/24/2024. GS-13: You qualify at the GS-13 level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience, which is equivalent to at least the GS-12 level in the federal government, that equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position. You must have experience performing the following duties: Providing advice as a subject matter expert on a variety of administrative programs relating to HR, facilities management, procurement, asset and fleet management, budget/financial management, telework and customer relations. Managing work load of department by adjusting assignments as priorities change. Performing liaison functions with other organizations to effectively present your organization’s needs.
