Job Summary

The Senior Application Developer requires strong technical abilities and experience creating applications on the Microsoft platform using C#, ASP.Net and SQL Server with a good understanding of AD provisioning, Entity Framework, and REST API architecture. They participate in all aspects of application development including analysis, design, development, testing and documentation. The Senior Application Developer will work in a team environment yet be able to function independently. This position will interact regularly with other Information Technology staff as well as end users and will utilize oral and written communication skills. The Senior Application Developer will mentor less experienced developers, perform code reviews and be available to consult as needed.

Responsibilities
  • Develops and maintains applications, integrations, web services, API's, reports, and other processes with C#, ASP.net and Microsoft SQL Server technologies.
  • Designs and develops account provisioning applications using Active Directory and Grouper.
  • Designs user interfaces for new web applications and enhances the user interface for existing applications.
  • Participates in all phases of application development including, but not limited to, regular consultation with clients and business analyst to validate understanding of requirements and creation of design specifications for the user interfaces, business logic, application code, process flows, data structures, metadata and other components as required.
  • Performs unit testing.
  • Supports integration and system testing.
  • Analyzes and recommends new technologies and integrates those technologies into the developer toolset.
  • Leads in the development of new systems, features, and tools. Solves complex problems and identifies opportunities for technical improvement and performance optimization. Reviews and tests code to ensure appropriate standards are met.
  • Acts as a technical consultant and resource for faculty research, teaching, and/or administrative projects.
  • Performs other related work as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

Education:
Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in related field.

Preferred Qualifications

Education:
  • Relevant degree in computer science or equivalent.

Experience:
  • A minimum seven years of experience developing and supporting web applications with a minimum of four years developing applications on the ASP .Net framework using C#, SQL Server, Entity Framework and Restful APIs with Microsoft Visual Studio and Team Foundation Server.

Technical Skills or Knowledge:
  • Proficiency with Microsoft SQL and SQL Server.
  • SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) and SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) experience.
  • Developing within the Sitecore CMS.
  • User front-end design and development focusing on human factors and usability.
  • Developing and supporting account provisioning and identity management applications utilizing Active Directory, Grouper and LDAP functionality.
  • Strong TFS experience with the ability to create automated builds.

  • Strong problem-solving skills, quickly identify options and make recommendations to solve issues.
  • Solid analytical skills with the ability to assess complex problems and translate them into a functioning solution.

  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, adjust priorities when necessary and consistently meet deadlines.
