Job Summary

The Associate Director of Financial Aid is primarily responsible for managing the financial aid awarding process for a cohort of students-all three Executive MBA programs as well as both new one-year Masters programs-and will ensure compliance by resolving aid processing errors. Will advise students regarding financial aid processes and eligibility. Collaborates with university IT, the Department of Education, and private lenders to identify and resolve issues preventing loan origination and disbursement. Responsible for entering and maintaining financial aid application materials housed within financial aid software system.

Responsibilities
  • Owns and manages the entirety of the financial aid processing lifecycle for the new Masters and Management and Masters in Finance programs.
  • Oversees the processing of all veterans benefits for all benefit-eligible veterans across Booth's degree programs.
  • Evaluates financial aid applications and processes financial aid awards for all three Executive MBA programs, from application to disbursement.
  • Requests appropriate loan documents required for loan processing.
  • Reaches out to students as needed to ensure all documents are submitted.
  • Oversees reconciliation and validation processes, ensuring regulatory compliance of all financial aid awards and rectifying system errors in aid processing.
  • Collaborates with University IT, the Department of Education, and private lenders to identify and resolve issues preventing loan origination and disbursement.
  • Counsels students on financial aid availability, eligibility, application procedures, deadlines and requirements.
  • Troubleshoots undistributed financial aid awards; then makes changes in the financial aid system and/or contact students or staff to inform them of steps required for resolution.
  • Prepares student's records for student loan counseling and repayment information sessions prior to Convocation.
  • Provides detailed information to inquiries about all financial aid programs, as well as explains loan application process and procedures.
  • Enters and maintains financial aid application materials housed within financial aid software system.
  • Prepares loan application files to be evaluated by other members of the financial aid team.
  • Provides superior customer service to all internal and external stakeholders and manages inquiries to the financial aid office on all inbound fronts (e.g., email, phone and in person).
  • Assists students with a range of complex enrollment and billing problems by analyzing possible solutions using standard procedures.
  • Communicates financial aid policies and programs to currently enrolled students with moderate guidance.
  • Performs other related work as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

Education:
Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in related field.

Education:
  • Master's degree.

Experience:
  • Experience in financial aid, university administration, or related field.

Technical Skills or Knowledge:
  • Demonstrated proficiency using an automated system.
  • Previous experience using an automated financial aid awarding system.
  • Knowledge of federal and state regulations regarding eligibility for federal student financial aid.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) required, familiarity with Oracle's PeopleSoft program.
