Position Details:

Core to Grainger's value is our ability to get our customers what they need, when they need it, delivering 30M+ shipments to our 4.5M customers from an extensive network of 250+ distribution centers and branches. The Operations Support team drives the success of this fulfillment network by providing clear visibility into operational health, identifying and driving performance improvements to ensure Grainger delivers the best service to our customers at the lowest cost.

The Director of Training & Communications will lead a team focused on building training and communication capabilities and channels to ensure our fulfillment network's 7k+ team members have the skills, knowledge and confidence necessary to succeed and thrive across our operations.

Scope of work will include re-evaluating and reimagining our onboarding, training, and deployment models, leading creation, execution and evaluation of our content and curriculum, and insuring clear, efficient communications across a variety of platforms to ensure our distribution center and branch leaders and team members are effectively supported and informed.

This role will support a strategic and enterprise-wide scope with significant impact to team members in our distribution operations, and as such will have high visibility and exposure to executive levels.

You will:

Lead a team responsible for creating and executing leader and team member training and development.
Design and develop a model for team member training & onboarding that balances in-person, virtual, leader and trainer led modes to determine the most efficient and effective solutions across DC and branch contexts.
Supports change management initiatives by scoping, creating and executing training, education and communications that are proportional to the size of change required - understanding and supporting team members through their learning curves.
Develop capabilities to measure team member mastery, trainer effectiveness, and overall adoption.
Recommend and lead reinforcement tactics until adoption is achieved.
Create effective curricula and content, leveraging a variety of media to efficiently achieve results across different environments and contexts.
Responsible for ensuring leaders and team members are equipped with the skills necessary to successfully perform their roles.
Lead and support effective communications across many formats, including townhalls, emails, and intranet platforms and channels.
Seamlessly collaboration with business partners, engaging early and often to support strategies, initiatives and change management with training and communications.

You Have:

10+ years experience in training design or organizational development.
5-7 years leadership experience, with demonstrated results leading effective training programs.
Bachelor's degree in Organizational Development, Instructional Design, Communications, Human Resources, Education, or related field. Master's degree preferred.
Knowledge of best practices in adult learning theory, instructional design, and communication strategy.
Experience with learning management systems (LMS), e-learning authoring tools, and training delivery methods.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively convey complex information to diverse audiences.
Strategic thinker with the ability to align training and communication initiatives with organizational goals and priorities.
